From Teamtalk:
Extra officials for Europa League
FIFA have announced that matches in the Europa League next season will be played with two extra assistant referees behind the goal-lines.
It means Everton, Aston Villa and Fulham will play their European matches with a total of five match officials, communicating via headsets.

The idea was the brainchild of UEFA president Michel Platini and he has been championing the scheme as an alternative to goal-line technology. It was tested last year in some European Under-19 championship games.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter said: "The International FA Board decided 'let's have experiments with two additional assistant referees' and we were looking where we have can such experiments. Now we have found a solution together with Michel Platini and UEFA."

Now I take offence at this statement!!! "The idea was the brainchild of UEFA president Michel Platini"

Well, it took that plonker quite a long time to implement what he has been reading in our own forum in this very thread http://www.satellites.co.uk/satellite/388808-post18.html , long before he even considered getting elected to UEFA.

He is a disgraceful little man, but at least he is trying out my two ref proposal - who knows maybe it will really work and cut out on the cheats and let teams have the goal when the ball has crossed the line.
