DM800 External Hardrive

Have just purchased an external 160gb hardrive esata/usb, The problem is the dm doe,s not recognise the hardrive on esata but will with usb, using Nabilo blackhole image is there a solution, thanks in advance.

Do you have an internal HDD?
According to the manual, eSATA will not work if there is an internal one.
Suggest to disconnect the internal HDD temporarily if you have it, and test if the 800 will now recognize the external eSATA drive.

you need external esata hd case,you cant connect sata hd direct,because the cable conector is difrent,from normal sata standart!

Hi thanks for replying, no I have no internal drive, is there only one type esata cable, it was bought separate to the external hd regards,

All sorted, had the hardrive running before bootup of the dm and comes on, even with out initializing, works a treat.

I have just tried a USB 320Gb external drive with my 800 running the Nabilo blackhole 0.9 image. When initialised the drive works perefctly but whenever I turn the box off and back on the drive has been 'forgotten' and needs to be reinitialised again, losing any recordings on it. has anyone managed to get a usb drive to be rmembered?? or can anyone point me in the direction of any guides that may help.

Does it show up in the list of mounts when you use the web interface (using a web browser on your PC)?

Hi the external hardrive Apex 160gb I purchased from ebay for £36 which is esata, but also usb input what I do is switch on the power of the hardrve before powering on the dm800, with no problems with keeping all recordings hope this helps JR
