Mt ten year old Humax foxsatHD has a ethernet connection on the back of the set, it says in the manual that its ..."FOR FUTURE USE"...well...we are in the future now so can anyone tell me what its for please and what would happen if I connected it to the internet. thanks for any help.

AFAIK it will allow you to use BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub ........I have both the original box and a PVR version, but only the latter is Ethernet connected to my Network, so I can't guarantee the non-PVR one will do the same: But it might. Especially if the firmware is up to date.

My non recording Freesatbox in the bedroom has at least one channel up in the 900s that says words to the effect no ethernet connected - so it'll probably work if you connect it to your broadband.
