Interesting to read that Liberty Media thinks having the races behind the Sky paywall is a mistake and bad for the brand

It is nice to see someone talking sense for a change, it can only alienate the supporters if it is totally behind a paywall as it is now, actually kills in the long term as generations grow into adults not knowing what the sport is all about. Ah but yes that honours degree course in 'common sense' does not take place these days.

Indeed - look what happened to the interest in test cricket once it took the Sky bent cent. The England cricketers used to be household names. I couldnt name any of the current squad

Yes, even on holiday I used to listen to Jonners and Henry realing off the names of the players which somehow they all stuck in my head. I am in the same boat that I hardly know the name of players now that even TMS is on Talk Sport. I was sad to learn however that the comment "The batsmen is Holding...... the bowlers Willey" and the 20 minutes of hysteric giggling and stunted laughter that followed in an effort to maintain decoram and professionalism is supposed to not have even happened yet I am sure I remember listening to either that taking place or a recording of it or maybe just my dad telling me about it when I was a youngster.

I thought it might amuse you all to see a photo of me jammed into the Lotus F1 simulator at the Jim Clark Museum in Duns. Either I've literally driven the wheels off the car or it's the result of my three crashes in two laps of Silverstone.

Sad news from Spa this evening, as a result of the horrific crash in the F2 race

Statement: Incident during FIA Formula 2 Sprint Race, Spa-Francorchamps

The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) regrets to advise that a serious incident involving cars #12, #19 and #20 occurred at 17:07 on 31/08/19 as a part of the FIA Formula 2 Sprint Race at Spa-Francorchamps, round 17 of the season.

The scene was immediately attended by emergency and medical crews, and all drivers were taken to the medical centre.

As a result of the incident, the FIA regrets to inform that the driver of car #19, Antoine Hubert (FRA), succumbed to his injuries, and passed away at 18:35.

The driver of car #12, Juan-Manuel Correa (USA), is in a stable condition and is being treated at the CHU Liège hospital. More information on his condition will be provided when it becomes available.

The driver of car #20 Giuliano Alesi (FRA) was checked and declared fit at the medical centre.

The FIA is providing support to the event organisers and the relevant authorities, and has commenced an investigation into the incident.

Thanks Topper, that's about the only thing I've ever won, I will cheerfully admit that it was more by luck than judgement. Many thanks to Analoguesat for setting it up.

Well done JimmyH - and all our top 3 finishers. :D
Looks like I had a pretty average season with team 1 in 13th & team 2 in 9th :D

Thank you to everybody for playing along this season - there have been some deathly dull races (Abu Dhabi?) and some really good ones.. We now revert this thread to any interesting off season chat until the new game starts which will be the end of January if things follow the normal pattern.
