That's the best official TNTSAT receiver you can get. As you said, you can also receive multisat (the others TNTSAT receiver don't). I was looking to get this receiver but paying €219... I manage to get Opticum 9600 which also can read the TNTSAT card...

Hypercam 2.06 will give you the TNTSAT SD channels without the need to edit any configuration files but the HD channels are still dark. Since the 7020 is SD only you will get all available TNTSAT channels but of course no HD.

Hmm, I still can't get my card working in a DM7000 with Hypercam 2.06, so no French TV since 2 weeks ago. The strange thing is the card doesn't work either in the 'official' receiver recovered from its resting place in the attic. Maybe the card has missed an important update or it is just 'grilled'. The big disadvantage of TNTSAT is there is no central operator to whom you can complain. Canalsat just tells you to contact the box manufacturer in case of problems and doesn't accept any direct responsibility for faulty cards.

The card should still work in the original receiver - they've changed part of their encryption again in the past couple of weeks though which has meant that Hypercam no longer works, I can confirm it's not working for me either in my DM500HD with Hypercam 2.06.

get an illusion M2plus (with ethernet) programed with Firmware KYNG 2.29 then use it as a radegast server for TNTSAT feeding any linux box...thats the best option , because the only team who is realy on the ball with TNTSAT is KYNG team from Cristor (ALGERIA)...regards

The card is now working in the official Metronic box so I guess it took a long time to update the rights, more than 24 hours.

Elsewhere on the forum, nanochickin posted today that OSCAM is again working with the TNTSAT card.

I am intrigued. Where can you get unactivated cards from other than with a new TNTSAT decoder?

Have a word with member Chapdis, I got mine from him, even though it was through ebay :D

http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/members/236066/chapdis/

The card is working well now with an OSCAM / CCCam combination now that the AESkey is now known. Unfortunately it probably won't be long before they change it again though.

I'm guessing its going to happen just before Christmas :-humbug

2 others softcam have been updated since AESkays are known and can read the TNTSAT card :
hypercam and cccam

Note that previously there wasn't any change of AESkays for more than one year.

Have you tried getting hold of a Cristor Atlas E receiver in the UK.

Neigh on impossible. I rang about 20 shops and none of then stock them in the UK.

Even some of the shops in London which supply the arabic community couldn't help. I gave up and was about to sling the card when the AES keys became public again.

I was intending to use it to supply an R (radegast) line to my Dreambox, fortunately i don't have to worry now, at least for a while anyway.

None now :D

I was only looking for one, but as my Dreambox reads the card now, theres very little point in getting one.

I may look at getting one after christmas when i have a bit of spare cash if anything just to play with it.

PM me the details if you know of where they are available.

If i do buy one later on it will have to be the one with an ethernet port. The one without is useless to me.

by then Cristor Phoenix HD will be in the market i advise you to look for that...actual Cristor Atlas and M2s+ have a ethernet problem (hardware Bug) and pings are very high...so watch out

Thanks for that mate. To be honest i won't be going down the HD route. HD does nothing for me at all.

I'm more interested in the quality of the programming. SD does me fine :D

I need info re Fransat receivers (with integral card) Do they sell them in French supermarkets? How much? Do buyers need a French address? Have they modulator output and is this in Secam? My French speaking friends are about to lose the analogue signals and panic has set in!

Many of the large French stores carry the receivers and cards, some may have modulators, but as France is well into digital switchover, it is unlikely that many will.

Having decided to take the simpler option and buy an Aston Simba HD (Fransat version) to use with my motorised dish, I discovered that Humax had recently released a TNTSat box, the TN5000HD. I had been a bit nervous about buying the Aston because I had read in a couple of French forums about software problems, freezing, etc so I took the plunge and went for the Humax instead, even though I had not been able to find many reviews on it.

VERY pleased with it, it is certainly not the cheapest way to get French TV in the UK (I paid 219€, plus you will need a separate hard disk drive to record or pause live TV) but you can use it as your main box to receive channels from other satellites. It only has a card slot, not a CAM slot, but it works very well and has an Ethernet port which hopefully will come in useful one day. You are supposed to be able to use this to watch YouTube, but this is the only bit which I have not got to work yet, maybe it is configured to block non-French IP addresses.

I don't have an HD telly but the picture quality on HD and SD channels seems excellent.

Just wondering if you are still happy with your TN5000HD? I'm currently considering buying one of these as I've been without French TV for a few years although the dish is still on the wall! Missing Les Enfoirés last night has given me the push to get this sorted!!

Thank you
Tracey

Hi traceyj,

Yes I am still perfectly happy with the Humax, especially now the YouTube function works (this was fixed automatically by an automatic OTA software update). It doesn't even freeze or crash which I thought was a feature of this make given my experience with their UK PVR's! The main disappointment is that it seems to be impossible to play/edit files on a PC which have been recorded on this Humax. The files are in .ts format, but they seem to be saved with encryption (even programmes which are free to air), so even though it is easy to get the files off via an external USB drive you can't do anything with them except watch them on the Humax! This sort of defeats the object of having an external USB drive.

The other disadvantage compared with a Humax Foxsat is that it is not possible to connect to BBC i-player with it (at least, I have not been able to work out how to yet) but I suppose you could download the files via a PC, transfer them to the Humax to watch them on the TV. However I only really bought this machine to watch French TV, so this is not too much of a problem.

The picture quality etc is all pretty good, the main niggle is that the programme guide does not go very far ahead (like an hour or two!) so it is not much use to record programmes ahead - I tend to just programme them manually using the date and time. I don't think this is the fault of the Humax, however, according to the French discussion forums on this machine.

I bought mine from Satpromo who I can recommend, very helpful guy.
