It won't improve chances of reception but just means you can have extra receivers or boxes with multiple tuners as it isn't practical to split the satellite signals due to the polarisation and high/low band switching required to access all frequencies.
The new bracket should just clip on, removing the old one may need a flat screwdriver to lever it off. I would try the new LNB in the old bracket first, it should just require a Phillips screwdriver to release the collar holding the LNB.
Set the LNB settings on the receiver to Universal or 9750/10600, polarisation to H+V or auto, 22KHz to auto or on, LNB power to on or 13v+18v.
Without a basic meter or the ability to see the signal levels on the TV you'll find it difficult to align the dish accurately.
