It won't improve chances of reception but just means you can have extra receivers or boxes with multiple tuners as it isn't practical to split the satellite signals due to the polarisation and high/low band switching required to access all frequencies.

The new bracket should just clip on, removing the old one may need a flat screwdriver to lever it off. I would try the new LNB in the old bracket first, it should just require a Phillips screwdriver to release the collar holding the LNB.

Set the LNB settings on the receiver to Universal or 9750/10600, polarisation to H+V or auto, 22KHz to auto or on, LNB power to on or 13v+18v.

Without a basic meter or the ability to see the signal levels on the TV you'll find it difficult to align the dish accurately.

Today, 12 march, the sun is at the same azimuth as 5W at UTC 12:30:58, in Dover.

So when the sun shines at that moment, you can set the dish at exactly that azimuth, and you only have to find the proper elevation.

At 12.30 today.

The far edge of my dish is nearly touching my Easterly facing wall to get the angle. Hopefully not a problem

You could move the two bolts on the end of the wall bracket from positions 1:2 to 2:3 for another half inch or so leeway.

I did think about terrestrial, I used to live in Thanet and could pick up 1 of the 6 Freeview packages they have without doing anything. So it should be nailed on in Dover. I don't currently have an ariel on the house though.
It might be worth trying DX reception as well

Thanks for the frequencies. I'll definitely give it a go if I can't get the Fransat working.

LNB arrived today, I followed a signal adjusting the angle up and down, left and right, plugged the Fransat in and... NOTHING! Very frustrating.

I plugged in my cheap satelite receiver again to see if it could pick anything up and Yes! Some Greek and Suisse telly! The good thing about this is I didn't bodge anything changing LNB, so it should be plain sailing from here (right?!).

Congratulations - finding the first satellite is always the hardest thing. You have found 9E :) (M1 is Hungarian)

Just bend the edge of the dish back CAREFULLY. The loss of reflectivity wont make any real difference.

Adding a second zone arm, bolted backwards onto the existing wall mount is the way to look around corners.

(You will need two more nuts and bolts)
