"sport" has rules,a competition element and repetitiveness.
However,"exotic" sports,such as kirkpinar,Papuasian sports,or Scottish "strength" sports may qualify in my view.
Football,cricket,snooker,golf etc... have a taste of "fixture" events,they won't classify as "gems" something rare & wonderful,worthy of wonder.
they'll repeat next year ,unless very grave events prevent them.
Gems do not repeat.

11900H 27500 and 12034V 27500 have signals from French-speaking Africa.
The good points are
1) it's the actual public tvs and radios fromeach country
2) it's easily caught on 9°East

A lot of Egyptian channels,mostly private
1)Egyptian TV,11823 V ,27500,public station
2)11843 H 27500 "Nile TV" bunch,with music,old vintage Egyptian films..
3)11785V 27500 Egyptian cooking channel,great fun to watch!
4)from Lebanon,Rotana bunch,including vintage music & films from the Arabosphere.
Plus Tunisia ,Morocco's bouquets...

When it was airing in the '70's, Ollie, my little canary, trilled so loudly to the theme tune that I had to take his cage into another room during the programme.
For some reason he never did the same with other TV shows, records or radio other than a few cheeps.

Strangely,this series never made it to France,until 2015 (the new batch).
And was a notable flop,due to lack of "local colour".
I have lived near Amsterdam,been there many times. Indeed the characters should be ,at least in the order of 60-75%...Dutch people (or Indonesian,Moroccans) like people in Amsterdam really are!
and some 20% Brits/Irish/Americans...of course!
Not a group of transported Brits .
How would you take a series in Edinburgh with only Spaniards,or French or Portuguese?Or Dutch?
Too bad an interesting place like the NLs is not better served....by the Dutch!

I suppose it's a little bit like those German Rosamunde Pilcher TV films that ZDF film in Cornwall in South West England with a German-speaking cast!

which no-one in France (bar some Alsatians,teachers of German) knows about.
