I have a PC PSU with what I think is a 10R fusible resistor which has, well, fused. They don't seem very easy to find. Can anyone recommend a supplier, or what would you do otherwise?

If you feel comfortable with it then some fuse wire in series with a 10 ohm resistor might do the job.
Just make sure the power rating on the resistor is sufficient.
More impotantly though, perhaps it would be prudent to find out what caused it to blow first!

Farnell do them (_http://uk.farnell.com), you have to buy 10 though (not that expensive even for 10). You need to know the power rating, depends where it is in the circuit.

Put 'Resistor Fusible' in their search box.

Yes, agreed. However it was working but then has been in the garage for a month or so, and i didn't give it time to warm up before I plugged it in so may have been a bit damp. I'll replace the resistor with a bulb and bring it up on a variac to see what happens.

Good idea. They save much head-scratching (and blown switching IC's) when I need to repair SMPS's. They really came into their own with the introduction of chopper circuits in TV's many yonks ago.

I used to use a lamp across the 110v line cap, normally gives you an idea the PSU runs and isolates line output faults mainly lofty or LO transistor. Bring back the old wooden cabinets ;)

I think more TV repairmen were buried in wooden cabinets when there were such things as live chassis sets.
