Back to thread topic please:-doh

The thread topic's already complete, lop the plug off & wire on a new one, or use a suitable adaptor... :-rofl2

Oh, and they missed out the 5 Amp fuse for electronic equipment like TVs, computers, UPSes, etc., not an "official" BS1362 fuse, but still made to those standards and very common & widely used... :D

Good point about "back to the thread topic" but here is almost certainly no problem with running US 125V cordsets & plugs at 230-250V from an insulation point of view, unless you touch the pins when inserting or removing the plug from the socket with that being live, because the insulation is quite thick - I "proved" that to myself over a period of many years with the AV system setup.

However, I would never plug/unplug the kit with the power on to the socket (unless, of course, you want us to toast your "departure" in the "traditional" way!). "Cheers"!:-congrats

Well, the trick with unplugging US plugs that have no switch to turn them off is to hold the plug, not the pins when disconnecting... :-rofl2

But even if my thumb were to stray into the pins, it'd just leave a bit of a burn on my skin and the tripswitches flick off, which I've tested a few times doing stupid things with electrickery in this house... :-rofl2

The parcel was received on Sunday (it took only 2 working days to ship and deliver via UPS Saver).
As the Suchko socket I ordered is going to take at least two weeks to arrive, and there was a bit of urgency, I cut the plug that came with the appliance, changed it to local one, tested that it is working fine and gave it to my relative.
Not worried about the warranty anymore. The hassle of shipping it back to Amazon is just too much for me, if the need ever arises.
It might be just easier to order a new one if this one goes kaput.
Anyway, thank you all for your great discussions. I think we have all learnt a lot from them.

Exactly!
Couldn't have said it better myself!
