I have noticed that there are channel details displayed on my system as being part of Astra 19.2 but the signal strength is below 40% and so pixelates or is zero with no picture.

Where does this happen? Oh and the best picture I get, (which is a good picture), only reaches a max of about 60%

You probably need to tweak the dish slightly and possibly skew the LNB to increase your signal.

Mkae sure the tp list is up to date. And think about investing 20 quid in a slightly bigger dish.

should be ok for most of UK

tiwst the lnb clock/anticlock in the collar, see if signal strength goes up

you should certainly get ALL Astra1 channels on a 60cm dish, with no problem.

(i get them all fine, on the same Lidl receiver, with only a 40cm dish, and it's pointing through a double glazed window!).

I've just found this site after Googling 'getting German TV in Britain;
I'm told that the analogue signal on many German channels is being dispensed with in 2012 (ARD for example, April 2012)

Is the info contained in this thread still valid?

I'm having trouble getting a satellite engineer to come and get German TV for me at my new address for some reason. If I buy a digital receiver surely it can't be that much of a problem to adjust the dish so that it is pointed at 19.2E rather than the setting they're used to doing, for Sky or whatever. I don't wanna do it myself because I am useless at DIY.

I'm watching German TV with Astra 19E, unless I've overlooked it I can't seem to find the German channel RTL, anyone know what number it is?

Simple to get one channel Euronews and change default language to German. Doesn't affect the other channels.

If there are others in the house they won't even notice any difference to the usual UK/English language channels. I've done this on several family SKY boxes and I flick over to the German news when they are out of the room.
