I live in South Norfolk in the East of England and I’d like to get TDTSat (Spanish TV) in my house. I’m really unsure though as to what equipment I’ll need to receive it.

I currently have TNTSat at Astra 19.2E installed. I have a 45cm dish and it picks up all channels with excellent reception regardless of weather. This is one thing that confuses me because every website I looked at at the time told me I needed at least a 60cm dish to receive 19.2E so I’m a tad skeptical as to what dish I actually need to receive 30W. The consensus seems to be that a 60cm dish is necessary for the south of England but would it be doable on the standard 45cm Sky dish I have now or would I need to fork out for a 60cm dish?

I’m also unsure as to what box would work. I found a Televes TDTSat receiver on TVCorner for €395. Does anyone have experience with this box? Is it a good box to get for TDTSat? Is it the only box that’ll work? I also can’t see any reference to a viewing card so I take it that the box has one embedded into it? Again, I’m very new to all of this so I’m not 100% sure how it works. For reference, here is the link I’m looking at:

I’m sorry to ask so many questions but any advice would honestly be a massive help as I have almost no clue what I’m doing!

I would think you'll get something on the 45cm dish but it will have no kind of bad weather margin. The TDT Sat transponders on 30°W aren't as strong as the Portuguese pay TV ones for example. I'm in the SW England/Midlands border area and I use an 80cm dish which usually works fine for them, but I still lose them in heavy rain earlier than other services drop out.

If you can test out the frequencies with a TV tuner/meter with your 45cm you'll be able to see what the lock level is like. The main ones of interest for the big national channels in Spain are 12631V 30000, 12671V 30000 and 12548V 29600 (all DVB-S2 8PSK 3/4).

The Televes box you've posted the link to is the only 'official' way to receive the channels, but they are also quite receivable with third party receivers like the more budget-friendly Octagon SX and Edision ranges. As this is unofficial and involves (lightly) encrypted services, we can't go any further into this here on this forum, you'd have to do some independent research.

Having said that, I bought a new Octagon SF8008 mini a couple of years ago and found that it was already partially set-up for some of the TDTSat services without any further configuration required, which was a bit surprising!

Those two are definitely the most borderline ones. I get them on my 80cm dish, but there is basically no rain margin.

The footprint for 30W-6 actually shows a slightly weaker area diagonally across southern England, South East Wales and up to the Humber in the east, so in theory it's a little bit stronger in the NW of England and up to central Scotland.

Just put La 1 Canarias on (11653H) and it's glitching slightly at the moment as the rain stops.

Adam792 sorry to come in in this thread as I'm looking for a new receiver because my FortecStar Passion plus ( 2009 version) is getting dead.... I kept it because I just need Hotbird and Astra 19.2 and still working fine.
However, it starts to make a strong sound after I went on holiday, had to turn everything off the electricity ( still working though) Any way , it's time to get a new one. I see your suggestions above and I have 85cm dish with a motor and currently losing all Hotbird signal so I don't know if it because of the receiver or because of the satellite movements ( William updates)...
Sorry again for the inconvenience. Loquacious .
What do you mean by getting dead?
If it works I'd still use it, French TV may be upgrading to Dolby Digital Plus in the future. They have already done this on Terestrial TV and Polish TV is transitioning to this on Hotbird. So possibly think about getting a Dolby Digital Plus receiver.
Possibly think about getting a receiver that is compatible with a CanalSat or TivuSat CAM if you want to receive those channels.
Would you be interested in 4K channels?

@Admin might be worth creating a separate thread for this
Thanks, for the advise.I will create a new thread .
