My Satellite Setup
Sony 40" LCD TV. Sky HD
My Location
UK
Hi everyone - I am new to this forum (and to HD TV) so please bear with me.

I Have a 40" Sony Bravia LCD TV and up until recently had the non HD from Sky. This worked well and because it was Scart connected, I could turn everything on from just the one Sky remote control.

Now I have upgraded to Sky HD. This is HDMI connected and I now have to turn the TV on with the TV remote. Change source input to HDMI with the TV remote and then use the SKY remote to select channel etc.

Having to juggle between two remotes is a pain. I think it is because the TV cannot be set up to start up in HDMI mode.

Is there any way around this issue

Many thanks

Tom

hdmi does not have auto switching like scart, but on my sky remote i can change the a/v source by pressing the 0 button when in tv mode, but on your sony it wil probley be a differnent button but i expect it will be there some where,

maybe some one else with a sony could confirm if one of the buttons in tv mode will swtich the source,

If you only need the HDMI connection, you can skip inputs 1 to 3 so that input 4 (HDMI) is first choice.

To access this facility, press Menu on your remote, go to AV Preset and choose to skip each input up to HDMI.

Thanks for the replies. But unfortunately it does not fix the issue.

All AV inputs are "skip able" except DTV (which is digital TV and is programmed in as the default AV pre set. So skipping all AV presets excepts HDMI still brings the TV up in normal digital TV mode.

In TV mode - none of the buttons on the sky remote will change the TV source.

Thanks for the help - any other ideas are much appreciated.

The help button on the Sky remote switches between inputs on Sony TV´s.

Make sure your sky remote is programmed to work your TV

Do you have an old Sony TV.

Current Sony TVs use the HDMI CEC system to automatically switch inputs. Check your user manual to see if you need to set this up.

I don't know whether the Ѕky HD box outputs a compatible HDMI CEC signal.

I've got the Bravia 32V2000 but I know this works on other older versions of the Bravia. It is a little known trick that the SkyHD remote can transmit 2 signals at the same time.

press TV
Hold select and help (red light on remote flashes twice)
press help (until you find the correct AV input you want)
press select

Then...
press tv
hold select and green (red light on remote flashes twice)
press help once (nothing should happen)
press select to store.

Then when you press Sky, TV Guide, Box Office, Services or Interactive button, sky will auto switch to the correct Av

In my case, AV4 is correct. Let me know how you get on m8 :)

Fantastic news!

The Sky engineer had "programmed" the remote to my TV -
But from reading your replies, I re programmed it.
Now the "help" button swithes between input sources.

So I am back to using just one remote.

Thanks again

Hello,
I too have switching troubles with HDMI with Sky HD and a Sony Bravia KDL32s3000. Please can anyone help?

I am using remote code 1679, and have tried to set up the macro for the sky remote so it switches but it will only let me flick through AV inputs, i.e. if I press sky, tv guide, help, etc. it does not go straight to AV4 where the sky HD is connected.

My set up is:

Sony Bravia KDL32s3000

Sky +HD Samsung (HDMI Cable to AV4)

Sony DVDR (HDMI Cable to AV5)

DVD Player (Scart Cable to AV1)

I have also put a skip on all other AV outputs.

Thanks,

Owen

I had the same problem with a Toshiba setup, TV and DVR.
With SCART the set automatically recognised the when the DVR comes on,
with HDMI it does not.

Thank you for this solution. The only problem is that when watching the TV and tuned to the applicable AV for the HDMI input if you press SKY, TV Guide, Box Office etc the TV reverts to the DVT channel although the SKY box remains switched on.

Is there something else I can do to prevent this as is rather defeats the object.

Thankyou
