Hi

New member here ,

I have the normal sky set up , i have the biggest Dish that the satt guy says the wall can stand,
In fact he was not happy about putting it there, as he was worried due to the size it could blow the house down .

has what he says is the top LNB during winter BBC etc is fine until 10pm ish then starts to lose it .
Summer lose BBC etc at about 7pm ish..

Now i wondered can you buy a booster that can suck the signal to bring the signal in more ? Or have i got to go the massive dish on the floor route ?

Any advice please ?

Welcome,

An amplifier on short cable runs will just increase the noise floor. You'd be far better off getting a larger dish for an improved CNR (Carrier to Noise ratio). Also consider an LNb with a lower noise figure.

If you give details of the LNB and dish (make, type, we can give advice) A photo or two will also help.

Hi,

I live in Mallorca (Costa de la Calma) and I get all channels, all day and all night.

I have a 1.5M dish with an invacom quad LNB and andrews feedhorn.

If you do decide to go for bigger, get a 1.5!

So is your dish wall mounted ?
I didnt really want to lose garden space with a floor mount !! So hoping its just the LNB ..

I lived in Mallorca (Santa Maria Del Cami) - I had a 1.45m dish and picked pretty much everything 24/7 with this dish, and the guy wall mounted it. There are plenty of local installers in the Bulletin who will set you up with Sky over there.

The only channel I really had any trouble with was ITV3 which never seemed to work - but didn't worry too much about that. Friends on the island reported problems with Channel 4 when it was on the North beam but these days that should be ok where you are.

1.9mtrs can go on the wall, so not a worry there really.
With that dish you should be getting it all day. First thing to try is alignment i reckon.
