Help With DreamboxLive App For IPAD.

Hi Everyone,
Can anyone give me some advice on this I have a Dreambox 800HD Clone, I downloaded the new DreamboxLive app for my Ipad2 and its great I entered my boxes ip address and I can watch TV on my Ipad with this app and even move the dish via the ipad. I thought if I got my mate to download the app he would also be able to watch on his ipad if I gave him the ip address of my box but he told he he could not connect. So I went round to his with my Ipad and yes it would not connect but when I got back to mine it connnected fine. So my question is it would be good if I could connect to my box and watch TV when I am away from my home using wifi say in my local pub, in the app settings it says enter ip address or Host dont know what a host is, is there any way round this any hefp would be great many thanks.

Well whilst I have no experience of the Ipad2 I very much doubt there would be such a loophole as in effect you are defrauding the broadcasters in this way.

You effectively want to use the card in 2 locations. Thats defrauding Sky UK - and as we are a UK based forum you wont get any help from us to do so.

You pay, but that does not disoblige you from conforming to the conditions attached.

would it be as simple as when you are at home you put your local ip of the DM ie 192.168.0.2 but when your outside your property you need to put your WAN IP and forward the streaming port (8001 at default) to your local ip. i use dreambox live its excellent but remember if your mate changes the channel on dreambox live it will change the channel locally. you cant each watch different channels at the same time

ANSWER.
Because of too huge traffic (upload) there´s no chance to watch outside
own LAN.

If you have more than 30-50 Mbit/s UPLOAD (not download) you can try it
with static IP (e.g. Dyndns.org)

Well I've never been called an angel before but thanks for the compliment!!!
To be honest I've not tried this app outside of my lan but I have noticed there is a quality setting low/mid/high si you could try it on low.
Just give it a go....
infact ill try it over 3g in a mo and report back


EDIT:- Just tried over 3G but am gonna have to wait till I'm on another wifi connection

Thanks, good job im going for my eye test next week. Got this from somewhere else but dont know whats it got to do with connecting to the ipad.

Since you asked i have used another application to control and stream to my Android phone from my Dreambox and it works very well.
I also have it working remotely by using a dyndns but the picture is sometimes pixellated due to the connection. We will have to wait for 4G to become available to use this type of application properly but if you want to try it the free app is called 'AndroidDreamer'.
Works with Enigma1 & 2
On WiFi at home the streaming is faultless
When dowloaded there is a large instruction manual which details everything you need to know to set it up.

I did not want to waste loads of time tring to do something that could not be done, ive created a dynds account but never port forwarded before so with the reply from DreamboxLive contact centre it looked to me as you could not connect while away from my home really not sure now what can be done.

apparently it is for iphone too and this app works with Enigma 1 & 2 so if im correct in assuming the tm500 is a copy of the dm500 then, yes, it should work

So to sum up with all of the above, could you connect to your dream box with the dreamboxlive app from the pub over the road from your home ?

If your wifi stretched that far...definately...if you were on another network you'd have to try it but i dont see why it wouldnt work unless the connection speed was an issue
