We have a 64cm dish, which is receiving a good signal from the Thor satellite, and a Technomate TM-5302HD receiver. We have obtained a Hungarian UPC Direct card from a friend in Hungary, however we cannot get it to work. We can see the channels are being received, but they are scrambled and we cannot watch them.

I suspect the problem is the card will only work with receivers supplied by UPC in Hungary, but would welcome any suggestions. If we were to obtain a receiver from UPC in Hungary and bring it over here, would it work with the card we have, or is there anything else we could try?

Is the receiver patched or does it have the official firmware on it ?
Is the card white with writing on ? Cryptoworks ?
It should work in any Crypto receiver and patched TM-s .

Is the receiver unmodified (no patches ) ?
What message comes on the screen when you insert the card
Can you interrogate the card to give the dates that it is valid from/to ?

Hello, thanks for your replies.

To answer your questions:

The receiver has been updated with the latest firmware.
The card is white with writing on it, and is Cryptoworks as far as we know (and says Irdeto on it) (and has been put in the right way up!)
We have checked with the issuer that the card has been activated, although I don't know how to 'interrogate' the card.
The message that comes up is 'scrambled channel'.

Ok , if it sais Irdeto then it can't be Cryptoworks as well .
What do you mean by latest firmware ? Official firmware ?
What you need is a patched firmware that has been tweaked to make the card reader multicrypt . Pretty much all of them . Google TM patch .

Yes you need the patched firmware not the official. You should then be able to go into the cas menu and get the card information to display on the screen. If the card says Irdeto then it must be and it should work fine in your receiver.

Thanks, I'll try to find the TM patch. This is all new to me, but I'll give it a try!

Hi there,

For watching Hungarian Tv channels I can recommend freeSAT UPC card. Monthly cards £13.90 or 4 monthly cards £54.90. For that you need 80cm satellite dish and recommend AB Cryptobox 650HD with IPTV and stream picture-tv channels on other devices like tablet, mobile.
