Alright, progress update.
We've gotten a motor for the dish, mounted it, and the Vu+ box can rotate the dish (tested in the "Positioner setup" menu). I've set Tuner A to "equal to Tuner B", and set Tuner B to Simple/Positioner, and entered my latitude and longitude.

I've uploaded a satellite/channel list via VuCC, and used the "Satfinder" menu to align the dish to 28.2E.

However, running a service scan still returns nothing.

Could this be some kind of alignment issue, or am I doing something wrong here?

One thing than often helps is pictures.

Several views, front, side, close up of the dish can reveal in an instant installation issues that several pages of Forum posts can't.

.

When you can, comment on how you can configure the engine in usals and use the unicable LNB, by default it works with normal LNB.
I'm preparing a VU + Solo4K for a friend and the truth, I have no idea how to do it.

Esperemos que pase algun compañero con un VU+Solo4K y pueda darte otra solucion.
Let's hope some fellow with a VU+Solo4K and can give another solution.

Which part of London ?
Is there anything in front of the dish (and I mean not just nearby, but across the road or the other side of an estate ) ?

As long as the companion does not clarify that LNB is in the motor, it is to waste time indicating how to adjust the antenna, it will never have signal.
I play with this tuner model (VU+Solo4K) and since december with the unicable LNB of 24.

Hi there,

setting up a dish first time can be very frustrating.

Especially until you get the first signal, then it can be very rewarding, and lead you (or at least some of us) to buy multiple dishes and spend hours and hours tinkering with kit which strictly isn't necessary for watching TV.

I dare boil down a bit what people are saying above:

You need to make sure the dish is pointed *exactly* in the right direction for 28.2E.
Then you can scan all the channels on that sat position.

There are a few points of concern:

1) Why are you using a Unicable LNB?

If you can, get hold of a normal LNB, and use that for adjusting.
As @Tururu says, once you get a lock, you may consider swapping in the Unicable LNB.
Unless you plan to multiple STBs attached to this paticular dish, the Unicable LNB bring no benefit at all.

Recommendation: Get a "normal" universal LNB to align the dish. You need nothing fancy, so you should be able to get one for <10 GBP.

2) Why have you bought a motor?

The Motor is just a gizmo that rotates the dish around an axis to allow the viewer to catch more than one satellite.
It is *not* a pointing device.
It need careful set-up and calibration to work, and this is even harder than setting up a dish for just a single (28.2E) position.

Recommendation: Leave the motor in the box until you are comfortable with setting up a single sat position.

3) Are you pointing to 28.2E, or just any SAT?

Using a signal finder (aka "beeper") just shows that there is somehing giving off a signal in the direction the dish is pointed.
Mostly, this will be a satellite. (If not, it will be your neighbours microwave interfering with shoddy cable quality.)
But it could be any of the >50 satellite positions that can be seen in the heavens above the UK. And you want only one specific of them. Namely 28.2E. The problem is that the beeper cannot distinguish between positions, it just shows if there is any signal at all.
If extremely lucky, you may be pointing to 28.2E.
To verify this, you need to do a channel scan, and if you get nothing, you're not pointing to 28.2E.
Simple as that.
Even if you *do* get some channels, it may be just some channels on a nother sat that uses the same frequency etc.

Recommendation: Use guides elsewhere on this site to align dish correctly to 28.2E. If in doubt where, post a plea.
Note: Without pics from you it is virtually impossible to tell you to do X, Y, and Z to get closer to a result.
Recommendation: Whip out the camera, take some pics, and upload!

SO:

Firstly: We want to help you. Bear with us...

Secondly: We need as much info to go on as possible.

Secondly.1: Take pictures, and post 'em.

Secondly.2: Answer the questions posted above, e.g. @Mickha about "have you done this before", and
"how do you know you are poiting the dish in the right direction". Be as specific as you can, even
though it seem daft, irrelevant or trivial.

Secondly.3: Be ready to spend some time setting up and adjusting, and posting back lots of anwers + progress reports. There's a whole group of experts out here to help you - the more you post, the more they will reply!

Thirdly: We do this for fun and tinkering. If you, on the other hand, just want to watch TV on the box and don't really need to fiddle around with dish pointing etc; ask for a friendly installer on this forum, and we can recommend someone fairly quickly to come and sort you out.

Gracias por el resumen St1/Thanks for the summary St1.

The VU+Solo4K has 8 tuners (4+4 FCB ) on the motherboard, and can also mount a normal satellite tuner or DTT (double/twin).
It allows recording up to 8 TPs with the 8 FCB tuner.
No bandwidth and polarity with unicable LNB.
Channels.? 16.
For the "crazy" series that are broadcast at almost the same time is perfect for your recording.

Sin limitacion de banda y polaridad con LNB unicable.
Canales.? 16.
Para los "locos" de las series que se emiten casi a la misma hora es perfecto para su grabacion.

what i suggest doing is getting an old sky box and hooking the dish up to it and checking the signal details on default transponder i.e lock indicator, network id, transport stream and signal quality

If the lnb is a unicable lnb that wont work either....

Id suggest chucking that lnb in the electronics bin up at the local recycling centre & buying a new universal lnb.

Unicable lnb's are used for a very specific circumstance and are not for basic domestic use.

I know. And I still reckon it wouldnt work due to the unicable lnb. Most satellite systems are designed for use with universal lnb's (Sky's new Q system being the main exception)

There is a review, of t VU+ Solo 4K, on linux-tv, that seems to state that it will work with a unicable LNB.
Code:
http://linux-tv.com/receiver/vu-solo-4k/

Code:
FBC – Full Bandwith Capture

The FBC technology adds more possibilities by capturing more transponders. So the 2 FBC tuners can pull in up to 8 transponders providing they are in the same frequency band/polarisation that is.
As you may know these are the 4

    (950 MHz – 1950 MHz) : Low-Band / Vertical
    (950 MHz – 1950 MHz) : Low-Band / Horizontal
    (1100 MHz – 2150 MHz) : High-Band / Vertical
    (1100 MHz – 2150 MHz) : High-Band / Horizontal

So say you are watching a channel in band 1 on tuner 1 you can with the same tuner pull 3 additional transponders in that band at the same time. So with the two FBC DVB-S2 tuners in the VU+ Solo 4K reception of up to 8 transponders simultaneously is possible.

By using Unicable/SatCR technology each tuner gets 4 Unicable/SatCR-Frequencies. So Unicable LNB is an advantage if you wish to take full advantage of FBC.

I still think the first thing, he should try, is the receiver on a different dish, one that he knows is working, on Astra 2, 28.2E, to see if he can scan the channels in.

If he is a beginner, to the satellite hobby, he has jumped in at the deep end, trying to set up a motorized dish, and using a new 4K receiver, so it might take a bit of time, and patience, to help him.

For pre-Q installations, yes.

New Q installations and "upgrades" require a unique LNB type. This causes problems where the punter wants to retain Freesat feeds from the Sky dish, so there is a Hybrid LNB available to overcome that issue.

.

The VU + Solo4K can work with normal LNB and with unicable LNB without problems from the first day.
You only have to configure the tuners to work with normal LNB or LNB unicable.

How to comment.
I have now one at home and when configured with motor, it only works with normal LNB, I do not see option to configure with unicable LNB
For more than 1 year I play with this receiver model and it is what I can count on.
Ask NatKarmios to set your configuration to see the error, it says nothing, it does not indicate your knowledge to adjust the antenna + motor.
If the comment is correct, motor usals + LNB unicable, can not tune anything, this configuration is not supported.
It works well if you have a normal LNB, verified with the antenna that I have.
If anyone knows how to use unicable usals + LNB engine, thank you for the information, thank you.

The satfinder, normal searchers do not support unicable, professional field meters (Rover SRM-50 from 2008 nones, but modern not), are not worth for this LNB.
You need to mount a normal LNB if you want to adjust the antenna.

Nor do I comment anything about the unicable Inverto LNB you have, ask in a store the topic of programming / programmer needed, indicating that I had to order already programmed or buy the programmer, I did not order and buy the Megasat de 24 that works perfectly.
As indicated by @Lazarus, Inverto has LNB unicable 4+1Legacy/2Legacy (LNB unicable + normal LNB in a single box) for 70 € +/-

If any partner needs a photo of the configuration options of the VU + Solo4K, say so, I have no problems getting on the forum.
Has the OpenSpa image, similar options in BH, VTI and OpenATV.
--------------

If all else fails call up an aerial/satellite installer to check the dish for you and I suggest going to the Vu+ website and read the manual for your receiver model.
