Well ...if were gonna include free standing decoder boxes as well ..
I think I still have a Filmnet decoder somewhere ..Made by 'Tulip' ...if memory serves ..
..and my old favourite ...which again emptied my piggy bank for some time ...
My Churchill DMac/D2Mac decoder..

..and freeview boxes ...well ...I aint counting them ..

;)

rgds

The decoders for the Echostar were plug-in boards VS - they screwed onto a metal plate on top of the mainboard.

I think these should be included also ...as they _are_ technically stbs ..

Bathroom ....1 x converted Xbox ...(media player)
TV room ...1 x Hi Media (chinese made media player)
Bedroom ..1 x Aldi special ...media player ..

The media players all networked by wire to the Server in the loft ..

How I managed before this method of media storage and playing ..I'll never know ..

Just out of curiosity ..
Anyone else use a media player ?? ....
I know some use an HTPC ..to do the same job ...as did I until I discovered these tiny boxes ..

I had a Core2Duo HTPC in the living room, but got rid of that to fund my Uno. Found that Uno doesn't play DivX/XViD files very well - quite choppy and stuttery. So looking for a cheapo media player but haven't really looked into one properly yet.

Oh yes, I do have a Philips FilmNet/BDE353 D/D2MAC decoder in the loft - cracking bits of kit and the best MAC decoder I've used.

I went to a client the other day and the TV was in the wall behind the bathroom mirror. When the TV was off you couldn't see it.

Hi Captain ...
The bathroom media player ...is to serve the lcd tv up in the opposite corner from the bath ..
Since I got my TM complaint ...I desperately need a lot of hot baths ...so its been a godsend really ..

I intend to replace the Xbox with another (much smaller Hi Media player) when I can afford one ..

here is a picture of it ..
And so far I haven't found _anything_ it wont play codec wise ..

Hmmmm. If he can hide a TV there then he could hide a camera as well.

Or am I being paranoid?

Remembered a couple more which are stashed away.

Old Sony Sky box
Early Comag - occasionally used to align dishes out in the garden but I didnt find its menus very friendly. (Vu+ syndrome again :D )

Most of the old analogue kit I had hidden away has been scrapped in recent weeks, no point keeping it "just in case" now.

My little Aston Simba is pretty small too. Uses a linear power supply on board with a hefty sized transformer. A few diodes, three electrolytics and that's it. No need for heatsinks. Cool runner. Pity there aren't more STBs that use linear PS's.

well not hot just warm as I guess there is not much free space inside it but raising it up an inch it will be better. the casing is metal so that will help with cooling.

Its cheap and nasty and a bit slow :D

Its perfectly adequet for using for Just Tivusat, but not much use for anything else. A bit like uncle Rupes Sky dodgyboxes.

Some might say far too many, but fortunately two Echostars were taken out by electrical storms, and seven(!) have been rehomed with different family members, along with five dishes! Two Pace analogical boxes have their days numbered..., so this helps to keep numbers down. My worst buy was a Metronic Freesat HD box, very unversatile, and with poor sensitivity. Quite hopeless with my set-up in Spain, but I got it second hand, so no great financial loss.
