How to Blind Scan with the SX88+

Many receiver's blind scans miss weaker & low symbol rate transponders in the name of speed

Test your SX88 against your Technomate, pick a satellite, delete all channels and transponders on them, then set them off blind scanning at the same time to compare speed & how many channels are found.

I meant to get back to you on the above but it slipped my mind.
Yesterday I did a comparison between the SX88+ & a TM F3/5 when I was putting in Yamel 402 @ 54.9 East on the SX88+.
They both picked up Kuban 24 on 12654V as well as the 17 Radio Stations on 12531H. Kuban 24 is perfect on both receivers but the Radio stations come & go.
I didn't time them exactly but the time was very similar on both receivers.

The default software is an OpenATV Enigma 2 image. However, you can normally ask a supplier if they will flash an alternative image onto it before despatch.

In addition to viewing the channels on a TV, you can use the WebIf of an Enigma2 receiver to stream to VLC which allows viewing of 4:2:2 feeds. There is also an Octagon setting to use the Sat-->IP option of the receiver to view a satellite 4:2:2 signal via KODI. The 4:2:2 satellite signal comes from your dish and the receiver transforms it into a viewable format via an app.

I asked a question on the Octagon forum as to what was the lowest symbol rate that the SX88+ could download ?
The answer came back from Octagon support 1500 or 2000 ?

My AZbox Premium was retired years ago..took forever to do a full scan well over an hour I think, by which time the SNG truck would have packed up and gone home.

You should have kept the SF8008 as this now boots in either E2 or the SX88 style firmware plus give you 4K.

I managed that too on the SX88+ but not on the SX88 4K for some reason! I just inputted the freq etc in motor settings and nudged the dish over until the signal showed using DISEqc 1.2 (won’t go I to the reasons now for not using in USALS) until signal bars showed, then did a search on that frequency. You have to change it to radio though as they obviously don’t show via TV.

The SF8008 I had already had the SX88 style image installed in the second slot, accessible by (IIRC) pressing menu > standby / reset > multiboot > select image
