humax 5400 question

I have not used my system for a long time as i had to remove the dish to make way for a conservatory however this week the dish is being reinstalled. my question is this i am using a humax 5400 which i patched and a diseq motor with a 1m dish...When i was using the machine full time flavour of the month was a silver card using ds9 files with a verysmall programmer (millenium i think?) will this set up give me maximum avialable content or can i get more channels with some newer cards, programmers or whatever? Thanks ez....Also is there a good site with latest patches for humax 5400.

Hi Ez_vin,

I have the same problem, I only have access to Hotbird and used to use a silver card with DS9 5-1 files to view, now apparently we have to re do the channel list by uploading a new HNF file, does any one have the latest one?

Also Im confused, in Malta we use Titanium cards, however when I spoke to a retailer here they recommended a KNOT card. Are the files for these 2 cards different?

Also do I have to change the patch on my humax?

there you will find all the info you need
with a patched hummy the new patch gives you the chnls that you get useing the titanium or knotcard so dont waste ya money on cards

If your humax is a ver that is patched.?if you were useing a ds9card IT IS so all you will need is a new chnl list and the new hot patch its got a emulator for s2

the new patch is + ToH 3.3 hot

knotcard...NO
cams......NO
just repatch the hummy

Will I be able to get Seca 2 with a Silver Card with DS9 code on it? I thought you needed a new card?

all the software for getting S2 are in the hot patch
NO you wont get them chnls with just a silver card.....you put the new patch in the box no need for new cards

so just to clarify, Im going to upload the latest settings to get all the channels, and the latest hot patch, I dont need no cam or cards to watch the channels?

dam, I cant belive how many people have lie to me. GadgetsUK told me I need a Matrix Cam and Tit card for all Sky Italia Seca2 channels, and Astratech told me I need a KNOT card....Psats you have been a great help.

One last thing, every month when the files change.....what do I need to upgrade?
I presume the HNF holds all the channels settings, what about the codes for the encryption?

If I have no card do I have to update the patch all the time?

whats the best software you use and find stable?

when codes change you put a new bin file in useing dsremu updater via the nulmodem cable like the patch

ahh right now its making sense. so in fact you have 3 files on the box which you need, the HNF file which is the channel listing, HDF and TUX (which is the patch) and the BIN file which is the binary which gets changed monthly?

1..upload new chnl settings
2..load new firm tux
2a..card must be in slot any silver fun thats been progged

3..load new bin file the receiver to be on
4..go to menu.. toh..config..caid preset..set it to card+emu
5..watch tv

and if you get stuck you know where to come

2. The firmware I can upload with Humax Uploader 1.5 I belive the file is a HDF not a TUX?
3. What software do I use to upload the bin file?

I think we are nearly there....dam I can wait to go home!!

im useing the very first dsr27 coz i have had probs with some newer ver on the pc i use for the hummy
this is the latest

Hi Psats, just very quickly, the bin files, where do you generally get them from, all the sites I know have specific files like TIT, DS9 , 6-1, can I use any of these BINS? As I have no card I dont know what one to use.

Also while I upload the bin to the receiver the card that I have inside is a very old silver Fun card that used to work is that okay?
