I saw that you live in wales and thought you might be a bigger help than anyone Ive spoken to, since most people Ive spoken to are in the states.
any help would be great.
Thanks

Hi athan I love my Humax HD receiver, it is indeed the best in Europe for HD, you need a few other things like a T-rex cam for HD from Germany (Premiere and thier 2 commerical broadcasters which are free).

HD in Europe is years behind the US so we are really all testing the future so its a good thing :D

Im not sure what dish size is needed for Astra 1 in Prague but im sure so close to Germany it be around 45cm (or 17") satellite dish.

Did you have an HD setup in San Diego over the air or cable or satellite?

I know that the FOX station there is actually based in Mexico :D

Get back to me soon as you read this, Id love to help more.

It's the 'Hidden Menu', bringing up the following:

IRD - IRD
Password Reset
HDD Security Reset
Default Setting/HDD Format

The first option will be for software transfer between STB's

Password reset - best left alone I think!

I can't get into the last two options, HDD Format presumably for use with an external hard disk connected via the USB port.

I connected an HDD here, but the drive just spins, and the HDD options are still unobtainable.

Maybe later Humax software will allow these features?

Brave Man !! sticking things in the back, I would never have had the B*lls to do it.
Just a thought, but did you do a power off/on with the HD plugged in ? or just plug it in while the box was on ?
maybe the drive needs to be unformatted.

Just saw the hidden menu on my Hummy & for sure the HDD feature will be activated with an software update for use with a hard drive connected through the USB port. Nice try anyway Llew.

What else would they put a USB port for? A wireless USB dongle connection maybe, for updating tps keys via internet?O-Ha

Makes no difference, as I'm using an externally powered HDD, which spins on power up.

Whilst I'm sat here patiently (still) waiting for my Humax to arrive I was having a little ponder....

What are peoples views on the 'blind search' (SMATV?) facility offered by this receiver?
Does it pick up new transponders etc or do people find themselves having to bash things in manually?

PS. Anybody else ordered a Humax HDCI2000 from www.247electrical.co.uk recently? On ordering it stated that stock would be in by the end of this month. Right now it appears that they no longer sell it even though my order is still active. :(

TIA

Just thought I would ask again in case anybody missed my question after it was hijacked. ;)

hi,i've done blind search once or twice, didn't notice any differences to the channels it found,i still find this box is unable to name channels properly and leaves many channels labelled as "unknown channel",this is using the newest firmware

What are the video/audio pid inputs for in the new "advanced search" feature?
How do I use this feature ?
why should I use this feature ?
Where do I find the numbers that should be entered in the box ?:confused

At glesgaguysat -

You can enter either hex or dec values. For instance Lyngsat quotes dec pids.

As to why you would need to enter pids, some channels (e.g. the extra Pr*miere Direkt channels off of the 11796H transponder on 19E) are not loaded using the basic search function, so you can find these using the pid entry function in the advanced search menu.

After reading so much about Humax HDCI-2000, I bought it but completely disappointed with its performance.

I was using a Samsung A300W with component cable that gave me excellent picture quality (all SD channels were so clear near enough to HD channles). The Humax is nowhere near to that quality. The only benefit I am having from Humax is I can watch BBC HD. Otherwise it is a cr*p receiver. I have decided to go back to Samsung A300W becuase those SD channels are more important to me than just the BBC HD channel.

What I could not understand also:

There is channel called Cee(i)TV on Hotbird 11727V 27500 3/4 that is free to air. The Humax can't view the picture for some reason it plays just the audio only where I tried with Technomate, Samsung & Echostar they all clear Video & Audio.

I believe the Humax has a bug in the new software. Any body else having similar problem.

One more thing to mention:

Buying an expensive HDMI cable for this Humax is as good as binning your money. The image will be much worst than Component cables.

Is it worth complaining all these to the manufacturer? If yes, how?

Thanks to all reading my message and suggesting to overcome the hassles I have.
:-bash :-bash :-bash

At last, Humax technical people replied to my email with following solution (but I dont understand about edit and download - Hope some one will help me):

Currently the new software has included the Advanced Search function, however on channels such as CEEITV the SID information is not beingdetected correctly and so you will end up with the Picture and Soundworking correctly, but an error message will be displayed on screen. This is currently being investigated. To resolve the issue for now you can use the Formula for HD program to edit your channel information, then download it to the receiver.

No expert by any means, others will put you right but I believe they mean that you can use the Formula Program (download from their site) to edit prorgram data then transfer via a null modem cable to the Humax, never used the program yet myself so can't give any more info but as I say others with more knowlege will inform you

Arrived yesterday. So far very impressed - I like the menuing and the HD channels that I have so far managed to view (incuding BBC) have certainly been up to scratch.

Dragon Cam is also working well

I do seem to have a problem though. For the life of me I cannot seem to find any Premier channels or Taquilla. I have the correct PID's as far as I'm aware but so far finding nothing even though I have entered the frequencies and searched the correct satellites. (info obtained from king of sat)

Premier 1 - 4 : -- Astra 1 19.2E 11797.5 H 27500

Taquilla 2 - 9 : -- Astra 1 19.2E 10788.00 V and 11097 V 22000

Is it possible that they have come back as UNAMED? I have tried manual and auto search and SMATV (which does seem to bring back just crap and somebody has said previously)

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Normsky

PS: I have not patched this in any way so not sure if I am lacking updates or not.
