Hi everyone,
In many cases I see that the reported feeds are in Biss or Powervu and that despite this it was possible to make a screenshot of the program...
As not everyone has pro equipment with broadcast access here, I imagine there are "solutions"...

Is it possible here to talk or ask for advice to have and use these "solutions"?

Some receivers are able to contact a server that supplies the information needed to decrypt the video. That's about all we can say.

Biss is (was) easy to open a couple of years ago. Some Power Vu stuff was open on keys for a while - eg the Yankee war machine channels in Ku on certain European birds. If you missed it you really didnt miss out on much - the output is DREADFUL!

Not looked at BISS recently as the receiver I used blew its PSU capacitors & I havent got around to fixing it. The current receiver hasnt been patched so I only bother with the fta stuff.

There’s not much of interest left on PowerVu in Europe now that Discovery is gone. BISS is surprisingly still going.

I get the impression with BISS that it tends to be a matter of "we have to encrypt this as a box-ticking exercise to keep the rights-holders happy" rather than a real attempt to lock stuff down. They can't be that bothered seeing as it's so insecure... It's mainly feeds of some kind using it (live feeds, terrestrial TV transmitter backhaul feeds, etc).

You’re basically talking EBU broadcast material and while BISS BISS E may appear to be a simple encryption system, remember the big money ticket, Champions League and Europa Cup are now subject to BISS CA which is a bit more secure.

If you fancy a further read on the subject this is an interesting article to read How BISS-CA is allowing broadcasters to fight back against piracy - Ateme

Took me a couple of seconds to get that :D

Thanks, will have a read. That’s it, they’re seemingly only bothering to better protect those big money events. Stuff like Greek DTT on 3.1°E and even the UK back-ups on 27.5°W remain in plain old-style BISS as they’ve been for years.

Yes I think BISS CA has very little in common with old BISS other than the name.

.......... BISS is surprisingly still going.
Not that surprising tbh , nearly all BISS2 feeds are from main teleport uplinks, it will take years for OB units to be upgraded.... if ever. The main threat for them is the feeds sent via fibre/4G, which has been happening for sometime now anyway.

It seems to be going back to the good old early days of feedhunting, when there were news feeds aplenty, but very little sports feeds......as most weren't being broadcast live :D
