I was after a 2.4M channel master, and someone told me they have a 2.5M channel master... picture attached.

As most know its for 26e badr6, the 1.8m gets signal but any rain and its going to go! its very low.

Will the attached dish do it, can anyone confirm its a channel master??

Regards

Hey Gary, That mounting does not look good. If you go for it, try and get some info about a better stand. My stand on the 2.4mt dish, is probably 4 times the diameter of the one that that dish is mounted on.

My neighbours dish blew over in a gale, it had a very poorly constructed base and his dish had to be replaced. I have a 1mt x 1mt x 35cm thick base and that's fine.

Thanks mate i will take note, but does the dish itself look ok? Its advertised as a channel master, but not 1 i have seen?

I just want to know its up to scratch and wont perform worse then my 1.8! lol

I was thinking of concreting the 4 stand bits into the ground, that should hold it in?

It is a channel master I have seen one of these before. Unfortunately it was laid on the floor and not operational so have no idea how well it performed.

Get a closer look at the feedhorn to see if its ok and that it will take an invacom C120 LNB

Hi,

I cannot find any info on these dishes anywhere, how they perform? Quality etc. :(

Also, every picture i see of dishes like this they appear to be pointing really high into the sky?? Is it just the location/satellite or do these dishes really point that upwards?

well it will perform well as channel master are good quality, this looks to be one of there prime focus models which could be in 4 panels that you bolt together.

the model you have outside in your garden is offset which means the dish recieves the signal at an angle of 26 degrees etc which is what the offset means. prime focus point up in to the sky direct at the satellite.

your really going at some length to make sure you receive all the epl games on a weekend.

With a prime focus dish the satellite, LNB and centre of the dish face are in a dead straight line. With an offset dish the LNB is lower than the dish face and the satellite is above. This gives the impression that the offset dish is pointing lower but in reality they are both pointing in the same direction.

Ah i see! i did wonder!

As for the ebay link, yeh thats the one the guy got it but its to heavy for his roof, so im getting it £500 delivered.

As for the dish performance etc, correct :D its the 4 panels bolted together and a channel master.

Will it perform as well as the 2.4M channel master 2 piece dish? And do these prime focus dishes, do they perform as good?

Sorry but this is a new eara to satellite for me!! (as if i havent had to learn enough already in the past 5 years)!

Thanks for the help guys :)

If you get the alignment nailed that's going to be one cool motorised setup.

Cheers mate but I will for now just aim for 26E and ADMC.

Another thing, because its prime focus and points up more can it go closer to the ground or am i wrong?

The closeness to the ground is exactly the same as an offset dish, but the top of the dish will be lower, as its leaning backwards of course, so less visible from outside the garden.

The effective height of a 2.4m dish when aligned to 26E will be approx 2.2m. Wheras a 2.4m offset will be approx 2.6m high.

The important thing is is can the bottom of the dish face be seen from the satellite over any obstruction. That's going to be the same for both kinds of dish. PF dish face points up at a steeper angle but both receive from exactly the same point in the sky and both need a clear view to the satellite.
