Yes, saw that one, I got the 10 DVD set, that's a little too expensive at the moment.

The brightest thing about Southern was their logo . . .

I like to think Out of Town referred to Portsmouth. :-rofl2

I wonder what was in his pipe?

Fred Dinenage is still going, presenting the news with Sangeeta, they make an odd couple.

Amusingly ITV has been forced to bring back many of the regional news programmes. Border is back to covering the Borders and Cumbria after a bizarre few years when half the programme covered Tyne Tees region where it isn't even transmitted! Cretins! Meridian Thames Valley news has also been brought back which makes a lot of sense as about four million people live there in one of the most economically important areas of the country.

I doubt we will see any return to proper regional programmes unless they are forced to make them. The golden days are long gone.

Too old for Magpie, although I do admit to watching Tiswas as an adult on the odd occasion, with the lovely Sally James. :)

Too old for Magpie,
You're of a similar age to me and I used to watch it. Wonder why the difference?

Now here's a funny thing. All my mates watched it but I didn't for some reason. However I did watch the shortlived late-night spinoff OTT.

I was watching Bullseye on Challenge last night, the proper old ones, they had the old Central logo on the first one and the 2nd was was ATV, both of which Jim mentioned what ITV region the contestants came from, you certainly don't get that these days, mostly cos a lot of the regions are amalgamated with others, or have gone bust...

It's funny how a lot of the gameshows from the 70s and 80s seemed to stem from US gameshows, and then the US ones flopped (Such as Blockbusters), but over here they absolutely boomed, makes me wonder if they over-reached their mark with trying to come up with general knowledge quizshows for the american people!!! :-rofl2

Just a shame ITV screwed up and lost them all to $ky & freemantle media, they might have actually kept their viewers.... :-lol

$ky alledgedly secretly hacked it and publshed the keys on't t'internet and people stopped paying for the sports packages they offered and heavily invested in... :)

Shame really, OnDigital was a good service, but I suppose without it, Freeview wouldn't have come into existence... :)

A 5 minutes opt out at the end of Toon Tees does not provide a news service for what is geographically a huge area, although we dont have many people living oop ere! (The biggest town in the Borders has a population of less than 20k!)

I havent seen any details of where the new service is coming from. I expect it Leeds or Newcastle. It certainly isnt Carlisle - the Border studios were knocked down a few years ago :(
