At a guess 1 FTA for Freesat and the rest FTV.

apart from the bit in the document that says

"From October 1st, the channel(s) will be broadcast on the Digital Satellite and Digital Cable (Virgin Media) platforms. Broadcast hours will be between 10:25 - 07:00 (20.5 hours). "

what makes you think that?

BARB cover all broadcast TV channels....not just terrestrial....i think RADAR do the radio stations....

I didn't read it properly. The bit that confused me was "It will not be available in Scotland, Ulster or Channel Isles. Screens will be blank in these regions".

I suspect (but don't know for sure) that they are stating that on the basis that at its simplest both BSkyB and Freesat need a Postcode to assign the correct Region and EPG slot.

Of course, we all know that you can do whatever you wish in that respect with a non-Platform Receiver for FTA.

For those that Regions are probably going to be FTV, Sky Cardholders can still use the laborious "Add Channels" methodology to get access to "out of area" variants.

Freesat users in Scotland often have to select ITV London just to get access to the Red Button for ITV HD when certain programmes (usually Football) are shown.

I think these rather sweeping statements are made for the mainstream "high level" user who just wants to look at a fixed EPG.

What's the criteria for how many channels fit on a transponder? Transponder 41 has 10 channels, but others only have 6 or 7.

Central/Northern Scotland, Ulster & the Channel Islands are not part of the ITV network and presumably wont have epg numbers mapped to the ITV1 +1streams.

Of course anyone with a bit of knowledge will be able to add channels or use other boxes to watch them :D

On which beam these channels will be? I think, that 2D doesn't have any much space left...

We dont know at the moment, but I cant see them all being squeezed onto 2D unless some of the other ITV 1 streams are discontinued or moved.

It beats me why they're apparently needed anyway.

Some people in this world are constantly one hour behind...

Others like swmbo, who watch 5 programs at the same time like to follow up an hour later to catch the bits they missed whilst watching the other 4

The ident 12199 on 12.402v has just starting showing normal ITV ,its been blank for a long time. 10135 on 10.832H is still blank. I wonder if that will show ITV1+1.

Like the Brits. They're always one hour behind the rest of Europe.

And yet .................

The rest of the world still uses our glorious Greenwich Meridian (Even though it has been sanitised into UTC. Yuk!).

The Greenwich Meridian passes just a few kilometres from here but we call it 0º longitude.

:-hijack

God forbid Europe should adopt something British

It's a long line indeed, Did you know you were late for work? :)

If time zones based upon longitude are good enough for the rest of the world why does Europe insist upon not using them. Is there some hidden benefit that we are not aware of? Or perhaps it is the case that the UK has refused to budge on the issue

Does seem strange as it is indicative of time sharing but the hours seem odd I cannot think of any another channels that broadcast between 07.00 am and 10.30 am only

Sorry about the hijack, but, as is it is a question... I don't really understand what you mean. The timezones in Europe are loosely based on longitude. The EU covers three timezones, EET which is UTC+2 (Cyprus, Greece, Finland, etc); CET (France, Germany, Italy, etc); and UTC (UK/Eire, Portugal, Canaries). DST is in sync across the lot.

I think, that on this time channel will be just blank... GMTV is on air from 6 - 9:30 (on usual ITV1, so count +1 hour to the time)...
