Hi, I've just moved my dish and can now see a wider arc but have discovered that the East west limits on the motor movement go from around 40E to 40W. I think this is capable of 70E to 70W

Does anyone know how to reset the East West limits? ( can't find the documentation that came with the motor, chaos caused by building work)

Thanks
G

On old Jaegars there are two cams on a common spindle inside the motor box.

If the 1224 has the same system take off the motor cover and you should be able to see the cams.

Thanks for that, BB, it is about 18 months old but I think it may be a different setup inside. Does anyone have an image of this?

Hi guys,

I have a 1224 where the spindle and East West cams have separated from the cog they insert into. All parts look intact. The spindle shaft doesn't appear to have been broken. When I press the spindle down it doesn't stay compressed. Any tips on getting this working as it should?

I still cannot work out how it works with the rest of the motor, is it missing something?

make some punches with a centerpunch around the end of the shaft that must be in the cog , press it in the cog and make a Z clamp that you secure under the screw like on the picture to prefend the shaft to come out

@Trust I bow to your superior knowledge.

Can you say if the shaft was ever meant to come out?

The metal axis is fixed on the gear (red arrow) it cannot come out upwards, the 3 other parties simply slide over it.

The axis is fitting tight in the gear , not secured , once the tight fit is gone , the axis can slip out .
There are other ways to secure it but therefore you need to take apart the gearbox .

Please clarify regarding the center-punch, where the axis enters the location (marked below with a red arrow) the receptacle appears to be solid?

The axis goes through the plastic cams "normally".
Do you know how the axis fitted originally? The axis does not appear to have been snapped, it is rounded.
If I take the gearbox apart I will not have the confidence to put it back together.

The centerpunches make the schaftend more raw and wider so it’s more tight in the gear
Be shure to use a sharp pointer puncher

Is this set made of the correct material to complete this task?

Yes , its perfect .
Just keep noted that the shaft must rest on a hard solid underground while punching , a big hammer or so .
