But is it 'ultra', Martin?

I don't know TBH, i have been able to view 4k test channels with my Samsung smart tv and the X2 satellite box, so i am unsure what channels to test it on ?.

Hi Martin,

The only way to view any of the 4K satellite channels at this moment in time is directly through the Built in Satellite tuner on the TV itself as there are no commercial Satellite receivers available at present that can resolve a 4K picture

Most have become encrypted but Hot Bird 4k1 is fta still http://www.flysat.com/hotbird-uhd.php
Stores in my radio section as none of my receivers can handle these transmissions

Thanks William, like I say these will open with my other tv and a X2 STB, so its no test for the tv, I need something that no one can open without a ultra tv to test it on.

I've not tried them all Digi, but I have seen a few test channels with it, I will have to sit down and spend some time with the x2 box and this new tv and try the new tv on any transponders the x2 does not decode.

Thats what i tried to explain in my previous post as far as i am aware there is no commercial satellite receiver available at present that will decode a 4K test channel and display it on a 4K TV, according to the X2 info its max resolution is 1920x1080p so how is that able to show a 4K test transmission that has a resolution of 3840 X 2160 pixels its impossible.

Thats why you need the inbuilt sat decoder on the 4K TV and let the TV do the resolution part

Yes read that thread and not one person is using a standalone closed source receiver such as the X2 premium.

The tests where done with TBS cards or similar then run through a PC with suitable viewing software and the appropriate HEVC codec installed to be able to decode the picture.

Thats why people can view them on 4K TV's with an inbuilt satellite tuner, Basically its like having a TBS card built into your LG but the TV also has the required processing power and correct codecs HEVC,H.265 etc.. to be able to view the picture

Well I don't tell lies digi, I will set my old system back up and show you that it does decode it,
@Tururu, to be honest I am not bothered if it doesn't work well on 4k ultra I did not buy it for that, I was just wanting to do some proper test, but like ive said the x2 has opened all I have tried in the past.

PC tuner cards with the codec / correct programs without PC problems.

You can also make recordings of 4K emisones with a normal tuner that does not support 4K and then played using a PC recordings made, testing with a Dreambox800S-HD or VU+DUO2, continuous slope to test a powerful PC and through VideoLang see if I can open a channel on the PC 4K important, just run the test with 1Gbs network.

Con tarjetas sintonizadoras de PC con los codec/programas correctos, sin problemas en PC.

Tambien puedes hacer grabaciones de las emisones 4K con un sintonizador normal que no soporte 4K y luego reproducir con un PC las grabaciones realizadas, las pruebas con una Dreambox800S-HD o un VU+DUO2, continua pendiente hacer la prueba con un PC potente y por medio de VideoLang ver si puedo abrir un canal 4K en el PC, importante, solo funcionar la prueba con red 1Gbs.

Yes, I guess its just the same as doing it with 4.2.2, like I say I am not that bothered about ultra, I am more bothered about a stb that does 4.2.2.

Not buy the TV satellite tuner, is not important, I need a TV that can be viewed at 1 meter and with this resolution, is perfect in the table "workshop" I have at home, as I said, I use as monitor for tuners and other devices.
4K satellite, may never start or jump directly to 8K.
HDMI input supports 4K connect a device if I'm wrong.
The other day to see what works the blind pursuit I got to squeeze the tuner and see how it with SR500.
It is a good buy for 450€uros.

PS: link 4:2:2 SD to the PC very well with Videolang.

Tampoco compre la TV por el sintonizador de satelite, es lo de menos, necesito una TV que se pueda ver a 1 metro y con esta resolucion, se ve perfecta en la mesa del "taller" que tengo en casa, como comente, lo uso como monitor para los sintonizadores y otros dispositivos.
4K por satelite, posiblemente nunca arranque o salte directamente a 8K.
Una entrada HDMI soporta conectar un dispositivo 4K por si estoy en un error.
El otro dia al ver que funciona la busqueda ciega me dio por estrujar el sintonizador y ver que tal con SR500.
Es una buena compra por 450€uros.

PD: Los enlaces 4:2:2 SD con el PC muy bien con Videolang.

Yes when is someone going to produce an updated satellite receiver for 4K HD + 4:2:2 with codecs updates 16APSK/32APSK modulation the technology is there just needs someone to put it all together http://www.proftuners.com/node/278 tuners are not that expensive {Made in China) they look very similar to tuners made bearing the TBS name

No, I have no voice activated functions, not the camera.
I do not like to leave it other devices that do not control and they control to see that we do / see at home.
