Hi,

I've replaced my old analogue sat receiver with a Silvercrest SL65 Free to Air digital receiver as I belived that Men&Motors were transmitting free to air.

I've moved the dish and pointed it at Astra 28East and can receive BBC ITV and a few other stations but I can't seem to pick up M&M.

I am located in the North East of the UK.

Could anyone let me know if I can receive M&M with my setup, and if so how?

Cheers,

Fountain.

I have to say I'm almost clueless with regard to these values!!

I've found something called a TP scan in my menu and changed the values to 12422 MHz
27500 Ks/s
Polarity H

But my signal intensity drops to 30% and my signal qulaity drops to 11%

Do I just need to realign my dish?
Is there a particularly weak transmission frequency I should use to align my dish?
Many of the other station values are at 75% for example BBC 10773H 22000. I used this channel to align my dish.

Is there an FAQ somewhere I should read?

Cheers.

Hang on If you have been using an old analogue receiver the lnb may not be a universal. Can you get ANY channels at all above 11700Khz?

http://www.flysat.com/ebird1-astra28.php

If not you probably have an old enhanced lnb which isnt suitable for digital reception.

OK I guess it's an old enhanced LNB, it's been working faultlessly for around 12 years!!

As a matter of interest if I buy a new universal LNB will it still work with my old anaolgue receiver?

I'm not planning to ditch the analogue receiver as I like to watch Eurosport on Astra 19, unless it's availbale on digital somewhere in english as FTA.

Cheers.

If it's an old enhanced LNB, then you analogue receiver should work with a Universal LNB, as the lower band on the Universal is 9,750, the same as an enhanced LNB, what is your analogue receiver?

My analogue receiver is a Nokia 1700 Mk2

I was thinking of either a:
HUMAX Manufacturer Part Number: LNB110
or a
TRIAX Manufacturer Part Number: TSI40U1

Any good?

Cheers.

To tell you the truth I bought the receiver from Lidl. I had gone with the intention of buying a receiver and LNB but all the kit was sold out within 30min and there were no LNB's left. I was just lucky to get a receiver.

That's was why I decided to try it with my old LNB and as I picked up BBC at 70% signal strength I thought it may be OK.

The two LNB's I listed are from CPC electronics (farnell) and are the next cheapest option I can find.

I'm now starting to get interested in all this Sat stuff again (12 years later!). Maybe I should get a motor for my dish and start seeing what I can pickup on digital. Any recommendations for multisat use..

Cheers.

OK I've fitted a new Universal LNB. The old one was indeed an enhanced unit. All channels now available including M&M.

Thanks for all your help.

Well done fountain. Did you remember to waterproof the connection at the lnb? If so sit back and enjoy the extra digital channels.

Wonder how long it will be before the little voice in your head says

with a bit of work and a few quid I could have several hundred European stations from 13e and 19e..... :-rofl2
