It's a catchy tune going to look for some more of them.
Looks like I didn't connect the sensors wires to the right terminals. Not a major problem, just another job
Agree with John here, some 4 core mains cable would be better here. The outer sheath of phone cable you are using looks to be internal stuff, and perishes quite quickly in UV light, starts to powder...
+ 1
I use 4 core mains cable with 1 millimetre diameter per copper core, I think it was rated at 10 amp but would need to check. It was definitely 1 milimetre per copper core though, I made a point of getting that diameter.
Will this stuff be suitable?

That will do nicely Chris, i use the same stuff on one of my runs. The really good stuff that has 2 x larger conductors for the motor and two smaller shielded conductors for the pulse count sensor is as rare as rocking horse poo these days.
John,
I am not sure if the real good stuff with the shielded pulse/sensor conductors is available anymore in the UK? I took some long lengths of it from old flat triple ribbon cable that was used on motorised installs but I have not seen anyone sell it for years.
... Talking about wires Chris, and by all means tell me to do one if you feel inclined, it's the telephone cable i see for motor + sensor duty. I'm a tad concerned about volt drop at the motor terminals especially when you move the dish from standstill or from an extreme end of the arc. Initial current drawn by the motor will be briefly higher at start-up but will have an impact on the volt drop and hence the final supplied voltage at the motor terminals .... which might give you a problem. Also because of the very small gauge on the sensor wires the pulses at the rig end might be affected a tad and give erratic pulse counting on the E-W controller. Not sure what your cable run length is also Chris, but long runs with that phone cable will make things worse. And finally --- don't like the knot in the cable lol.
Crack on though, good to see you making progress with the install.

I have some of that flat cable at home. It came as part of Greg 90cm win on EBay, motor, pulse, polariser and co-ax all in one. Good quality, but not long enough for my cable run unfortunately.John,

1mm 10 amp stuff I use to be on the safe side
