Can you take a close up image of the feed clamp and LNB ? Somebody here may be able to identify why it is at an awkward angle.

Once adjusted you will have to realign the reflector on the arc.

it looks like im getting 2db gains on known strong TP's on the 1.8m over the 1.2m - is that about right?

thats on 1w, 4w, 5w, 4e - working way through arc on 12" jack (temporary)


7east - 12.5db on "24 HD" channel on 1.2m - 14.75db on 1.8m

'ere, cop for this approx calculation for signal level with dish size increase.
It is approximate and in practice I have found the achieved levels are less than the theoretical level.

Is the feed now aiming at the "CM Spot" or the "G Spot" re the dish measurements diagram on the previous page of this topic?
If the feed is aimed at the CM spot then you should have more juice to come when you hit the G spot.

Well done with getting your project to this stage. You can now get on with some tweaking...
If there is activity on 3.0 West in Ku-Band that is often a decent test for a dish.

Not sure of your exact location, but here 17k North of Nottingham levels for the Sky News fx at 12.418 v are up and down on my 1.2 CM like a fiddlers elbow.
2 hrs ago it was 15.5dB on the meter, now it's 13.5 - 14dB

Dish area is approximately double plus a bit, the official figures for the Channel Master are
41.8 dBi @ 12.0 GHz
and
45.3 dBi @ 11.95 GHz

given up for today - getting cold, and arc was dropping off at 23.5e - i will tweak another day
i havent run the cabling permanent yet, so have to disconnect afterwards.
at least the dish works..
anyone here using original arms, but with @RimaNTSS LNB holder?

I am not sure if it will be of any use but I have attached a table that lists the signal levels I recorded from the cluster of satellites at 0.8 West using a Precision 1.8m prime focus dish.
Please note that the scan was carried out a couple of years ago so the signal levels and transponders could be out of date?

thats a great table and encouraging news for me - i.e that you were getting around 15.9db - 16.6db on Sky News / Al Jazera on 1w was about right maxed. Just my Arcs off atm.

A quick reply... on my Mutant HD51, it's 16.2dB at 4pm UK time. Obviously, take the reading with a bag of salt unless you have the exact same receiver.
