Hi! I could not just walk away when offered 150cm square-shaped offset antenna with complete turning mechanism (polar-mount), feed-horn and couple of LNBs. Those antennas was locally produced in different sizes, made of plastic. Offer was 20 bucks, so I did not even bargain about that price. Now it is laying on grass waiting for some attention and better weather (which is nasty today and gonna be about the same whole weekend).

Penta 150?
No, those antennas are local ones, they make them 90, 120, 140, 160 and 180 cm like this _http://www.best-price.lv/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=442&category_id=10&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=2&lang=lv So 140cm new costs about 250 bucks and I have got used 160cm for 20, but it needs lot of work to do: take off all rust (maybe sand-blasting), changing nuts&bolts, painting. I think that will make new feed-horn and LNB's holder. There are more picks

Spent some time removing old paint and rust, looks better now, but still not perfect yet. Space is not a problem, I could accommodate lots of antennas. Another question do I really need them? That was much easier one year ago when I had only T90. I should say STOP some day anyway, when (if) everything finished :confused

Mrs. does not object my hobby running if I can manage all honey do's at the same time. Dish per satellite that would be too much. For Ku band I wish to have all satellites to be received from stationary antennas with multifeeds, than one polar-mounted antenna for same Ku band, another polar-mount for C band. Some variations could be applied as well.

I can't imagine my missus telling me what satellite gear I'm allowed to own. I can't even get my head around the concept... I mean it would be like me telling her what attachments she's allowed to have for her Kenwood Chef or sewing machine.

I'be had the mother-in-law make a few wise cracks though like do I work for Wikileaks, but I just tell her very directly that if she doesn't like the view she is welcome to leave.

Some people do have some respect for what their other half has to say. My wife has stopped me from making what would have turned out to be some quite idiotic decisions in the past regarding my hobby.

Comparing satellite gear with attachments for kenwood Chef or sewing machine is just is just plainly idiotic :confused

Attachments for cooking equipment hardly comes into the same area. Cooking for most women isn't a hobby its a part of family life. If i bought my wife cooking equipment for a hobby i would probably wake up one morning with my nuts in a glass at the side of a bed :-nutkick

If i'm intending to spend a lot of money on something i talk to my wife first to see if we can run to it or if the money needs to be spent elsewhere first. I also have respect for my neighbours which is why i don't have a huge f**koff dish in my back garden.

May explain why i'm still with my wife after 20 years and i still have a fairly good relationship with my neighbours. Not having any respect for your wife just shows pure arrogance and total disrespect for her :-doh!

I'm asuming by your comments that your not married so would not understand the concept of mutual agreement between man and wife.

Not in a position to comment on spousal attributes ...
But I do have some cracking neighbours ..
They don't seem to mind my eccentricities ...and even lend a hand when I need something sat related doing ..
They even let me run a cable through the loft space ..to connect the dish on the back of my dads house three doors down ..
Now those are gold star neighbours ..
;)

Actually, VS, I'm a tad miffed now: I thought you'd implemented my "cable in a drain" concept of many moons ago!

Well it was considered Gordon ..but when I spoke to my neighbours about what I needed ...both sets said ...no probs ..climb into the roof space and pass the cable through ..
Such are the advantages of terraced housing...
The only proviso ..
If I fall through the ceiling ..I'd be paying for the damage ..
So I took a couple of sturdy boards up with me ..to straddle the joists..and bobs yer aunties live in lover...

To be fair if i get a bigger dish its going to look pretty odd on the side of my bungalow. Its in a really obvious place and can be seen from the road plainly. Ive already had one guy go by last week saying it looked like cap kanaveral!!!! Im happy , i have 4 satellites -i could step up my lnbs more or get a motor but i have plenty of channels to view so im happy for now.

I can exclude my neighbor from future possible problems, cuz he (they ) are completely depend on signals from my antennas (cable from my quad LNB's run directly to neighbor' s TV set). Wife, as I have said before, does not care about my hobby, moreover there is one more thing about me - sometimes I like to prepare some food like grill, some salads, pilaff, and it is just like hobby of mine, so she likes that.

I had an English friend stop by last week and he thought my 4 dish multisat setup looked like a piece of modern sculpture.....not sure whether to be pleased or miffed.....though if they won the Turner prize they'd be worth considerably more than they do now.....

Where did I say I don't have any respect for her? What I said is I can't imagine her telling me how to run my hobby, just as I don't tell her how to run hers (cooking and sewing).

nanochickin said:

I don't see how you jumped to that conclusion just through me saying I don't have a dictatorial wife.

nanochickin said:

More jumping to conclusions and certainly not relevant to me or my post. And for sure she spends a lot more for attachments for her Kenwood Chef than I do on satellite gear.

TBH, you've read my tongue-in-cheek post completely wrong, making me appear to be some sort of male chauvinist, which couldn't be further from the truth.
