I am tracking GigaBlue HD Quad delivery online. Package arrived to country but not yet in my post office, so will not play with it during weekend :-crying
I have a Friday's quiz: How it is possible if Snr is less than 3 dB, but picture is stable enough, no problem at all :-lmao Any ideas?

Easy - FEC is 1/2.

1/2 is the highest FEC possible (I think), which means that 33% (I think) of signal is used for error correction. TPs with FEC of 7/8 require maybe about 7dB to lock properly.

low symbol rate thus not requiring as strong a signal?

It's the FEC that matters....

OK CJ and hairybadger, you are right about FEC ½ and SR, but main reason anyway is that there is circular LNB, also configured little bit different, receiving linearly-polarized signal.

You've lost me there (easily done!) :) I don't follow your reasoning...

Finally got my new toy delivered at home. FIR: It is smaller than DM8k, remote is bigger. Booting just in 40 seconds! Only connected terrestrial antenna by now where we have 4 FTA channels. EPG is workings OK. There was not HDMI cable included, so used simle banana-wires to see some picture on TV. SCART is not existing at all. Will not accelerate with using this receiver, step by step :-rub

Excellent - enjoy your GigaBlue.

Odd there was no HDMI lead - not come across an instance of such kit being supplied in the UK without one.

That's why I've got a small mountain of spares!

No kidding! I can make difference between used and unused thing ({}) HDMI cable is simply not included to set, same as internet cable.

I did not think about that at all. No problem, will pick-up new HDMI cable on the way home today. I doubt that will coast me more than couple of euros.

Got HDMI cable and installed hard drive. Without internal power supply receiver looks almost empty, not like in old good times.
