From the end of february it will be possible for those people who have a tv licence to order just the tivu'sat smart card with a maximum 2 cards for 'ordinary' licence holders and 10 cards for 'special' licence holders. The cards will be distributed via the postal service and later on also from the official RAI regional offices of tv licences. RAI will only guarantee that the cards will work in official tivu'sat decoders. Costs of the service are €16.20 for credit card payments, €18 for 'cash on delivery' requests made online, €21.60 for 'cash on delivery' requests made by post.

D.

credito
euro 16,20
richiesta online e pagamento contrassegno euro 18,00
richiesta via posta e pagamento contrassegno euro 21,60

Thanks very much for the news.

So what they are doing is akin to BSkyB flogging Viewing Cards for "FreesatfromSky"?

Interesting to note Rai only Guarantee them to work in official Tivù boxes ..... but does that mean they definitely won't work in other boxes with suitable CAM ????

To which end, I thought they were supposed to be making an "Official" CAM available this year too?

Coming to Italy in June, so may take the opportunity to "get equipped" via Resident family.

Yep, they're going down the 'Freesatfromsky' route alright.
No news on the elusive tivu'cam I'm afraid but all the DTT CAM's are ok with this card. I'd say the guarantee thing is just a ruse to get people to buy the official boxes to be honest......
The biggest joke is 2 cards only per license holder and your license details checked on ordering. You can buy as many decoders with cards bundled as you like and activate them without any licence checks!!
Only in Italy!
