New channels and changes to BBC Freesat

ITV 1 HD has been added to Freesat epg 119. Full launch is 6am tomorrow.

For anyone in the STV areas of Scotland who wont be getting it and are desperate for ITV1 HD for the World Cup coverage I suggest you try changing your postcode to an ITV Border one (try TD1 1AA) This will give you BBC 1 & 2 Scotland, and ITV 1 HD.

STV are planning STV HD. Initial launch will be on cable & terrestrial but a satellite launch cant be too far behind.

Teachers TV will cease off 160 at some point - the new Government has cancelled the TV side of the project. It will continue as web only.

June 2nd update:

403 - Rural TV removed. They have moved their programming onto Horse & Country TV. There was speculation H&C would launch onto 403 but that idea seems to have been dropped.

A full BBC 1 HD service will launch later in the year. The existing BBC HD channel will remain as a "best of" service carrying output from the other channels.

Vintage TV will launch onto Freesat & Sky on September 1st.

Smooth Radio will launch nationally on Freesat Sky Freeview & DAB on October 4th.

According to news on the joinfreesat site this is how the setup will work:

Scotland will retain 7hrs of local output on their FM service whereas the rest of the regional FM services (N.West, N.East, E.Mids, W.Mids and London) will effectively combine to become one national service, therefore the DTT and Satellite feed will be the English service although available across the whole of the UK.

Very good channel, with some music rarely listen to other music channels.

They need more bandwidth - I was watching the Duran Duran concert last night and with the flashing lights the picture was reduced to a blokko-vision smeary mess. That was on a 14" portable in the bedroom - it would have been unwatchable on a decent sized tv.
