HI Everyone...hope you're all doing great!

I plan to move my motorised system on to my shed, but I really don't relish trying to hold a big Gibertini beast at ANY height. I'm sure someone on here will give me good advice (as per the norm) to what 1m dish I can get that will be less heavy and less prone to strong winds.

As much as I love my 1m Gibby, parts are now starting to get covered by rust and decay. Over to you guys!!!

:-respekt:-respekt:-respekt

High weight is not quite the issue with high wind loads, except maybe more damage if it falls down!

Well, it's not the dish itself, mainly the hardware like bolts and stuff like that!!!

I paint my fixings with Kurust every year and, once it's done its thing, apply a thin coat of vaseline (to the fixings ..... :unsure )

I have seen corrosion on the two main bolts that lock the elevation, but only on the very early models.

Gibertini bolt/screw packs have been stainless steel for a while, how old is your dish and did it come from a reliable source ?

YES! I got mine sent from Germany as it was cheaper than buying one in the UK and that was 2014.

I don't think I've ever seen a comparison table of dish weights, not to say there isn't one somewhere?

Some brands don't seem to be forthcoming with this figure sometimes, unfortunately.

I use this Astro dish. The 100cm version is almost all aluminium. But no weight to be seen on the website. But for me it has great build quality, performnce and low weight.

Mine was £5 used off Ebay! - I only got it because of the nice roof mount it was sold with.

Laminas 1.2M fibre dish with an IBU, on a Clarke Tech USALS motor, covering 57E - 24.5W to an Octagon SX88. Displayed on a 20" Dyon LED TV.

Seperate 80 cm dish on 28E with a Humax Freesat for SWMBO.
Free Sat V8 meter. Sony Bravia 46" LCD, Sony BluRay and Home Cinema.

I've successfully used Laminas dishes in the past. They are well built, made from fibre glass and light weight. Only drawback is that they are made in Poland and have no UK dealers.

Like I said, the dish is okay!!! It's things like bolts, the dish clamps...silly things really. But anyway, I have already fitted a pole to the side of my shed and whatever happens, I WILL be moving that dish there. I think it'll be just fine. Maybe some WD40 on the rusted nuts etc to get them loose.

Here are pics of rusty hardware and pics of the new mast ready for the Gibby and motor. Also I have sprayed the rusty parts with WD40.

I'd really like to get some new clamps for my 10 year old gibby, but I wouldn't know where to look to get some.
