VS, what's your handle on Lyngsat - ViperSan? I get daily mails and see a lot of regular faces - wouldn't mind DX Bozoth's set up. He gets literally everything from Express AM33 at 96.5E to Thaicom at 78.5E to Intelsat/Galaxy at 55.5W. That's a hell of a reach!

Hi CJ ..I use the same name on Lyngsat as I do on here ..and in fact just about every other sat group I've been a member of ..
Vipersan has been an alias for about 20 years ..possibly more..and I would never change it as I'm known as VS.
You might not see many references to my Alias as details get updated and overwritten regularly...
Someone uploading the same details with a pid change for example wipes you off the list ..so to speak ;)...and I usually do my hunting on C band only
Its not really about getting your name in lights ..though this can be a bit of a buzz...Its really about keeping the information available as up-to-date as possible.
Many other sites have tried to emulate Lyngsats function ..and some are often speedier at getting updates to the public ...but none have yet come close to making that info so accessible at a glance.
Maybe its just me and I'm used to it ..but I love the layout on Lyngsat...
I hope Christian never changes it ...'cos it works well.

As to regular faces ..you do see them ..
Our own Edgar (Qwer) uploads info for example ..and now we have Costactc as well..and it was Edgar who first fired up my interest in Cband..

Yep, I also use Lyngsat almost exclusively and sometimes send updates. I know some sites can be more detailed but a lot more confusing layout wise and don't look as pretty.

:) Nice. Intelsat 707 - that's an old 1W satellite, isn't it?

Where is he located? I'm guessing he must be about 20ºE and probably well south of the UK if he is receiving 152º of the arc.

Isn't that him which has his dishes on towers high up so can see those far satellites.

There is pictures about showing the setup, I think the dish was about 5 metre in size at the top of the tower.

I too have been faithful to Lyngsat over the years. I like to post arc threads with all the open channels on both bands across my arc, I always cross-reference with Lyngsat to make sure I have scanned in all possible channels before I document.

I'll check that one later VS to see if I can get it down here, do you know if it's still on? I saw this thread this morning but the weather was so hideous there was no point even getting wet to remove the plate let alone trying to lock that signal. Busy setting up the positioner on Ku atm but I'll switch over in while. My usual port of call is Lyngsat as well but I also check Flysat because it lists all the data signals, often these are the strongest ones available especially on C band when video channels are hard to come by.

Just watching it now Evan, CS and the 7301 report it at 10.7dB SNR, 4009V 7483 34 8PSK so quite a respectable signal. I note that the BISS Key listed for Real Madrid on 30W doesn't work for this one.

Hi guys, nice tread hope is still alive after 3 weeks.
Have to wonder where the target audience is for this channels I'm in Central America using 10 foot mesh prime focus and can't catch it, I get pretty much everything else on this bird with 70% signal quality, so who knows...

cheers

I'd be scanning that one in as well but we're in the Americas and that is an eastern spotbeam from where we are.

Thanks for your reply Costa, I thought Intelsat 805 was a single wide beam covering the whole western hemisphere as shown on lyngsat, besides this channel "Pasiones Latinoamérica" seems to be targeted to Latin America not Europe.

I can't understand why I had difficulties scanning that tp in, 79% signal quality on my azbox:

Hi Costa nice to see you locked it. I had no such luck yesterday I barely got small signal using 7486 sr but not enough to lock in.
(but then again I got an Openbox S10).
Anyway just to be really sure can you try the old keys from 30W on this one, thanks.

Hi Bigote..and a warm welcome to the forum.

There are effectively 2 beams from 55W in C band ..
The larger spread stronger beam is directed over the USA ...and a second elongated and weaker beam to Hispanic Europe ...
Hence the reason UK feed hunters with a big enough dish in the UK have a chance ..
I was the one who posted up the details on Lyngsat ...and I had no problems locking it on the European beam ..with a 2m dish..
Sorry I cannot comment on the beam in the US ..but I would have expected it to be primarily aimed for South American users ..and as such I wouldn't expect you would have problems..

The same 2 beam rule also applies to 58 West..
As a general rule most signals on both satellites are dual illuminated on both beams.

It scans in real strong on my openbox and skybox receivers which are essentially the same as the ali-chip s10. How is your signal bigote on the other tp as you should not be having any issues with this sat, especially where you are located.
