Indeed, the holy grail of rotors. Then there's all the ancillary equipment to go with it

Out of my reach unfortunately.

oh missed that bit, pricey it seems butyou get what you pay for as the saying goes

looks a beast and i thought the jaeger 1224 looked silly on my small dish

bet they would drive a andrews 1.8 across the arc no problem

I had a older type for years , sold it and for the money bought me a 120 Fibo .
Since the Egis makes liniair movements (separate Az. / El. ) you have to correct the skew by each sat .
I've tryed magnetic polarizer , but it did not work fine (signal strengt got lower )
Later i solved it with a 3rd motor who's turned the whole dish (150cm PF)so the use of standard LNBF's was possible .
A friend of me has 2 Egis rotors one on a 140 PF Triax and the other one behind a 300 cm Unimesh , unfortunaly , the housing of that rotor is broken by a storm last year .

There's one indian manufacturer, their positioner is even more solid - fitted with bike chains and huge motor, and the cost is just a fraction of this EGIS baby :)

Am I missing something here. This is an az/el mount for tracking non-geosats. It wouldn't make any sense to use this for geosats.

you are right specialy we lose completly the LNB´s polarity control(unless we use mecanical polarizer or such),but i would set it up correctly cross the arc then use the elevation option for small ajustment and inclined satelites ,i would use this motor same a s the SMR1224 EL but for hugh dishes..cheers

Many so called 'geo-stationary' satellites have some movement in the vertical plane and on a large dish this is more noticeable. The second motor and a lack of polar type mounting system allows fine adjustments required to keep the satellite in the focal point of the dish, often by a tracking device connected to a reliable AGC output of an appropriate receiver.

The Irte Omni system was rather similar if I recall.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at. It would be fine for circular polarization though. I've made a few mounts for astrophotography and an az/el is not compatible with that for the reason you mention. It just blurs any extended exposure.

I have a friend who has one and I also want one.My 3 meter dish weighing about 100kg, I want to be able to turn it.But experts say it is not feasible because it is so big. They said I must have a accutator the top, but how to sync them?

First you get the dish on the arc. Then you drive the actuator left and right using a v-box. Once you find the satellites you want you need to save to the v-box memory.

Exactly my plan, a vbox and a 36 inch accutator. But even a small accutator for azimutvinkeln, but how do I control it? An engine is no problem, but the two engine-makers should re sync with each other. An Egis should solve that problem, but it is little to pricy for me.

Sorry but I don't understand what you are saying.

You only need one actuator for geostationary satellites as they are positioned at 0º latitude, so you never need to move the dish up and down. You just tilt the motor axis so it is parallel with the polar axis of the planet and it will follow the geostationary arc perfectly.
