what should it be from lnb to centre of dish
I mean, LNB should be located in such a way that it's Phase center is co-located with Focal point of the dish. On different dishes distance from LNB to dish is different. I can not tell you how far your LNB should be from the dish. But you, certainly, can measure your dish, calculate position of the focal point and place LNB right in that point. BTW, original LNB holders not always hold LNB in proper position and direction. You could check your just to be sure.

You will not get Nilesat 201 on any moderately sized dish in Birmingham. A pure guess is you would require at least a 3m dish... However, you maaaaaay get something on a 2.4m - but don't get your hopes up. It's a very, very weak satellite in the UK.

Eutelsat 7W will be easy though.

Mod note: I have merged the two threads together, since they are asking the same thing...

I used to get Nilesat 7 west channels on Nilesat 101 & 102 with a 100cm dish but only one transponder now on Nilesat 102 12130 V 27500 most of the channels that used to transmit from here have moved over to Nilesat 201 @ 7 west the Arab community in West London are using 500cm dishes for these transmissions,

As mentioned Eutelsat 7 West A @ 7.3 West is more accessible here in the East of England via a 100cm dish I get 640 x tv from here the further North & West you go a bigger the dish is required 120 to 150 cm when you are 2,443 miles from the intended service area there is very little chance of receiving these signals due to the new satellites tighter footprint @ 7 west.

New satellite 3rd Qtr 2015 Eutelsat 8 West B predicted footprints look interesting for UK http://www.eutelsat.com/home/satell...dule/eutelsat-8-west-b/downlink-coverage.html

My scan range is normaly just feed transponders.I thought that I would try a full scan and see what I got.
I expected to get some off 8West.but I think that they all belong to 7.3 West.

The 2 best sites for checking what is actually happening on the satellite geostationary arc are flysat for faster updates & lyngsat for 4 to 5 days later checks as Christian Lymark double checks all data & flysat relies on the reporters like myself to give him accurate update but as I explained to flysat sometimes a transponder goes down but can be working again within 24 hours

That's a pretty accurate description of the relative merits of the major listings sites as seen by the user. Thanks.
