Right down the far south west of Morocco down on the coast near Sidi Ifni its just about possible. And down in the disputed Western Sahara territory claimed by Morocco its can be several degrees above the horizon near the coast. Up in the northern parts of Morocco where the bigger cities are there is no chance of 91W though.

Also taking one of the bigger Moroccan cities - Casablanca - 65E isnt going to be particularly easy either - its less than 6 degrees above the horizon so any inland mountains may get in the way!.

However that size dish is going to have some interesting results in the middle of the possible arc :D

Just took a look using the coastline of Morocco as a starting point, 91W is 1.2 degrees below the horizon (under water) anywhere along the coast, so that satellite may be a zip.

Now 65E is a maybe.
Near to casa blanca

If the dishpointer shows a red line and the elevation changes below zero to the minus range, nothing can be received except submarines, but you have to send a ping :)

He could stand on a ladder.
A hell of a ladder.

It is technically possible to receive a satellite that is normally below horizon, *if* it's in inclined orbit. At the peak of the inclination, the satellite may peek over the hill to become visible... but this is not the case of 91W.

Or due to atmospheric refraction; that's what I learned (but just from theory, not from practice).

However, we don't know his EXACT whereabouts in Morocco, do we? At least I don't.
But I guess we will know, later on.

If he lives on a higher level above the ocean, let's say on a hill with a couple of 100 meters of altitude, it can well be possible.

It will need a hell of a hill to overcome 3 degrees below the horizon..

Rayo77 you can give up on 91W - you arent going to get anything in Ku or C-band from that far west. Its physically impossible. Now some of the other birds are a very different matter - well you may get some very interesting results indeed from them.
