The SF8008 Supreme looks like it has a great blindscan until it is closely examined. The SF8008 Supreme is logging transponders in a blindscsan that it cannot solve.

61 West-Cband is a good example.

Good afternoon 'suedschwede' and thanks for the post and upload.

Myself, have seen no improvement using the 'New Driver for Test' x 2 files for the Octagon SUPREME model.

12620 V 890 managed a strong lock at 8.0ºw on the 'SUPREME', sadly the other two low SR's failed to secure........whilst the same three were locked on the earlier model with the Silabs Si2166D tuners.

At the mo not able to test the 'SUPREME' with software using a below lock .dB reading, may show something!........perhaps when time allows you can show what yourself and others are finding using the 'Test' files.

Again, your interest is appreciated. :Y

I noticed on Monday when swopping receivers over that Openeight firmware (6.8) has not been updated for a couple of weeks.
There is a separate section for the 8008M, which I assume is for the mini.

So, since the 8008 Supreme version has a different front end, do either of the OpenEight versions work on the new box ?

Openeight is supposed to be based on OpenPLi, and is part of OE Alliance. Openeight supplies their own enigma2 part of the image, and OE Alliance supplies almost everything else. What is needed to run a particular brand of receiver is in OE Alliance, and not in OpenEight.

The driver files for the SF8008 Supreme and the SF8008 are lumped into one package. Most likely this was done as convenience, but it seems to work well. Everything needed to run the SF8008 Supreme was added to OE Alliance and OpenPLi months ago. So any enigma2 SF8008 image made by Openeight within the last three months should also work on the Supreme.

OK, but what about the recent lack of updates ?

Updates are the responsibility of the image group. There are OE Alliance updates and there are individual image group updates. Whoever makes the Openeight image is responsible for updating it. The Openeight image group may feel no updates are needed right now, or they may simply not have anything to add at the moment.

Thank you for clarifying.

I wasn't faulting the firmware as it stands but if OpenEight is being promoted as official partner for the latest 8008 receiver then the update delay may possibly be down to refining the later front end without losing integrity of the older version(s).

What tuner/demod is within the 8008 mini?
