Zone 2 Fixed at Astra 2
Gibertini XP 75 cm fixed at 30 west
Gibertini XP 1 meter motorised 53e to 27.5w
Technomate TM2600
Inverto Ultra Black
LG 55 UH770V
Octagon SX88+SE
My Location
Midlothian
Just bought my first FTA receiver
I am using LG tv sat tuner for FreeSat
The picture quality of tv tuner is better than receiver even using good quality hdmi any ideas
 
What resolution is your TV? Make sure the Octagon is set to output the same. Also make sure anything like overscan is switched off.
Are you using the same picture settings for both inputs? HDMI cables don't make any difference in image quality, it either works or it doesn't.

Tv is UHD octagon is set same resolution
Using same pic settings
But not impressed by 8008
It’s freezing as well
How to turn off overscan ?
 
Maybe the internal scaler is better on the TV, try setting the Octagon to output native, so a 1080i channel is output at 1080i, 4k at 4k etc. What specifically do you think is better about the freesat picture? Are there any picture settings on the Octagon, other than resolution?

Have you updated the sf8008? It's not a receiver I've used so can't be specific.
 
On LG I believe in aspect ratio set it to 'just scan'
 
here it's the same and the picture quality was the first thing i noticed when i got it

LG tv tuner picture is more sharp ,better Pixels and eye comfortable
Picture on 8008 looks fake or kind of photocopy
Yes 8008 got picture adjustments like sharpness ,contrast & brightness etc
Tried to update it but it says already using latest software
But the biggest of the problem is freezing

Are you living with it or returned it.
Or found solution
 
Sounds like sharpness is cranked up somewhere. Turn it down or off. Sharpness does nothing positive in my opinion.

Thought you were getting an sx88+?

It’s have one tuner I needed two
Not sure it’s available in twin tuner
 
How is sx88 picture quality especially on sd channels
 
Single tuner only on sx88+. I have an Edision Primo which is nearly identical to the sx88+, picture seems fine to me, but I don't have gigantic high resolution TVs like many do.
 
Is the LG tv capable of controlling motorised system
 
Have a look in the menus, might need to be in a non-freesat mode. Chances are it will be basic at best, but basic might be enough?
 
Yes its got option to scan FreeSat and non FreeSat (others )
In menu I can see USALS , DiSEqC 1.2 on /off , Motor settings , name of the satellites about 15 , at the bottom it’s about 5 satellites names are empty (can be configured I think )

I remember comparing the picture quality of BBC One via Virgin Media's V6 box (4K Box) and the Internal Terrestrial Tuner of a Sony KD55 4K TV. The quality of BBC One HD through Freeview was alot better.
 
Just a thought - when you say freezing do you mean it's locking up and needs restarting, or do you mean the picture is stuttering every second or so? If the latter check you haven't set it to 4k60p by mistake, that'll cause the image to judder on 50hz channels.

Needs restarting from power supply
 
The freezing happens randomly when you are zapping or when you press ok and go down or up for example today it didnt happen for me the picture completely freezes and needs restart the picture freeze is anothter problem you mean the 3 4 second delay when you switch channels well known problem with all the boxes wich have the same hisilicon chip

no delay on switching channels only randomly freezing
brand new product should be trouble free otherwise buy cheap old / used
