Instead of linear actuator, perhaps Servo motor would work better, which via cogwheel move LNBs (1 turn from end to end).
I am not so worried about weight of construction. 3 pipes holding it could be replaced by more solid. And, BTW, some parts could be made out of plastic. Screen_39 Jun. 01 11.14.jpg
If you slide LNBs vertically how far they would travel? I can not imagine contraction you had in mind.

Hi Rima ..
I only considered shifting 2 lnbs for C band but then if you are wanting to shift more than 2 ..perhaps laterally would be best.
All I really wanted was 2x c band lnbs alternately placed at the sweet spot..
one to handle Circular and one for linear..
My ambitions didn't extend beyond this ..
I still believe that a redesign of a voltage switched lnbf with strategicly placed probes and custom designed feed would be the ideal solution ..but this doesn't exist..
Odd really since inverto managed to make a Ku lnb which does exactly this ...though separated frequency wise.

I guess it wasn't in such great demand in C band thus never explored fully..

Good idea to use such bowden cable , save a lot of weight .
Circulair and Lin. with one lnb without DE plate can be done with AV-COM polarizer and 2 servo motors .
Like Satu-qwer did . EDIT Qwer is the right name , member at DXtv.de

So many moving parts and such a large assembly tho'..
I wont deny it is a technically beautiful solution ....but not lightweight nor streamlined nor indeed elegant..
And of course the worst part is that it requires external control and power supplies which 99% of positioners or indeed sat set top boxes cannot provide..
Won't deny I am impressed though...
Edgar has always been a bit of a hero of mine when it comes to Cband..nice job buddy ;)

Just out of curiosity ...
Are there any re-sellers on this side of the world for these elusive AV-com feeds ?
The source being Australia or so I believe..
Not cheap to start with ..and no doubt shipping would ramp this up significantly.
If anyone spots one for sale on ebay or the like ..
please let me know..
As you know ..I do love to experiment.
