After much deliberation, I decided to upgrade my old DM800HD clone with the Uno. Was pondering between DM800SE and Uno and the Uno won due to it being original and it's something different to play with (but not that different!). Ordered it this afternoon from World-Of-Satellites so hopefully will get it mid-week.

Looking forward to it...

More or less. I dont really like it to be honest - the software layout is dreadful after the E1 software on the 7020.

Several of the functions I use regularly on the 7020 are missing from the Duo.

I dislike it so much Ive been thinking of selling it.

Wow - didn't think it was that bad! I did find some features missing in E2 that I had on my 7020, like the ability to press info twice to bring up TP and signal level information. In E2, I have to go Menu > Information which is far too many button presses.

As I am used to E2 now on the DM800, hoping it won't be too much of a change.

Once you start using your Uno you will wish you changed a long time ago.

The boot up speed and faster remote response on its own are a massive improvement over the 800, the fact you are used to the 800 means you will have no problems with it.

@Analoguesat

I think it's a sign of old age m8, my grandad also hates change :D

Tried Blackhole this morning. Why don't the channel + and - move the channel up or down?! Just didn't like it much

^^^^^^

:-lmao

Isnt it strange how personal tastes differ

I prefer the left right buttons for the channel changes.

The worst thing about BH is that if you change the skin the button assignments change - and that is REALLY annoying. I prefer BH over Vix though.

I'm a ViX Man myself.
Just find it easier to use.

As you say it's what you get use to.

Got my DM500s dusted off as well, and it worked....

Now can't get use to the buttons on that at all.

I only went to Blackhole to get OSCAM working, luckily I've got it working on ViX now, much more user friendly...and I got my Premier Sports back in time for the GAA! :D

Thank you for the order, you wont be disappointed. ViX image pre-flashed as requested. Be sure to run an online software update after the initial start up wizard. Press blue button > ViX > Software update. Then carry transferring your settings/bouquets etc...

Btw, your order will be shipped today and should be with you tomorrow ;)

Me too, but I have a sort of minimalist outlook and I guess it suits me. I tried BH but found it too fussy and having an analogue and digital clock, overkill. I only use half of the features of VIX....mainly because I don't understand the other half. (what are 'cron jobs' anyway?) Don't get me wrong, I admire people who can write software for satellite boxes which lets them do all manner of tasks. It's just sometimes they seem to forget what the STB is for....watching TV.
