Did you buy the one off E-bay a week or two ago?
Or is this a storage-piece...?

Sorry I missed that question.

Yes I did buy the 1.4 Triax Aluminium off eBay it was local, the gentleman also gave me two 18 inch jacks and a box of older bits, mostly LNBs with polorizers.

£40 the lot : )

The dish came with a polar mount but I much prefer the Precision mount.

The Triax has a four bolt fixing which of course does not line up with the three bolt fixing on the Precision mount : (

I replaced the reed switch on one of the Jacks, both are now fine.

I stripped and regressed them both for good measure, plus a paint job : )

One was an Echo Star the other a SuperPower.

Not sure if I can make use of the old LNB's,

Kind Regards Spiff

Excellent - I bought a 1.4 meter Triax 2140 some months ago - look exactly like yours.
The polar mount probably works well with the Triax dish; still to be tested here.
I do like the large plastic bearings; they seem beefy enough compared to other PMs I have.
But the precision mount is in a different league - you could probably hang a 2m dish of that one...

No cannot get that one, probably my age : ) Sorry

I know it is going to ruin the joke if you have to explain it to this simple soul : )

The metal cover for the box at the back on the Echo Star looked to be suffering from metal fatigue, it is similar to a problem I have come across with a motor on a 16mm film projector and the tuning gang on a vintage transmitter.

Good job they never made cars with it.

This is the first time I have used a motor system with jacks.

I have the following information from Dish pointer.com for Mullion Cove.

Using an angle gauge should I set the motor screw to 50

Are the other settings relevant to the scale on the top of the Precision mount or should I just move this scale to drop the dish on to a satellite.

There is one at 5 West which is nearly due south from here ideally it should be 5.2

I Have received Hotbird on a motor setting of 53 using an angle gauge and 4.9 on the dish scale

Thank you Spiff
