It's quite simple, do you have a 1.8m or 2m dish ?

It could be the front end needs upgrading to something modern , so what is on the front of it ?

If you don't post pictures nobody will know how to best solve based on your profile.

The 5402 (all versions) perfectly get DVB-S2/8PSK transponders. And the dish seems ok.
Do you lock the signal and have black screen? Or have you no lock?
For example, move your dish at 7E and try these 3 frequencies:
11044H 4937
11050H 4937
11056H 4937
These transponders are always on, and if your dish is aligned you must lock all of them.
Probably you have black screen once locked, but this is a different story.
They are all BISS encrypted, and you can't watch them without specific tweaks.
picking these signals up fine now, changed to a channel master1.2 to keep wife happy. can also pick up the odd live feed football match, what do i need to pick the mpeg-4 crypte please

Depends what it is & what they are encrypted in.

The BISS channels can sometimes be opened but the 5402 isnt the best receiver to do this with simply because these receivers are no longer supported & the software patches that allowed BISS keys to be entered are 5 or 6 years old....

Pay tv services are no longer easily opened

I believe that, although very old, the 5402's patches can be used with BISS encryption that never changed from many years.
However, if you want a very good and easy to use receiver for that purpose, I would suggest you the Viark Sat 4K, but maybe I'm going out of the forum rules, so I stop here.
Make a search for that box and you surely will find it.

The Quali chipset was 4.2.0 from memory and SD outputting

Edit - MPEG-2 only 4.2.2 transmissions

GTMedia Combo is a popular box for 4:2:2 with just about viewable pictures.
