That is correct: The plans and protocol for actions in the wake of her death are called Operation London Bridge.
As a Church Bell Ringer, I have joined our local Band in the muffled Ringing required by said protocol.
And very poignant it was too.
We are also Ringing at 18.00 tomorrow for the Accession.

There's German heritage in the Royal Family (they were Saxe-Cobergs before changing to Windsor during WW2), so perhaps not surprising Germany have an affinity with the Firm.

I think HRH was the exception. It probably wouldn't happen for anyone else, but she was one of the most important figures of history.

Well, Queen Elisabeth was not just a dignitary, she was really a QUEEN, beloved in every part of the world (Italy included, believe me).
So it was not a common situation, this is the reason for which ALL broadcasters broke normal programmes.
Also, yesterday we watched live new King Charles III, and surely it will be the same in the funeral day on September 19th.
