Radio Caroline may have turned up the power on 648kHz

Various reports are saying Caroline is being heard at much better signal across the UK & parts of Europe. Ive just nipped out to have a listen on the car radio & it certainly seems stronger here, although its far too cold to sit in the car for any length of time! I shall have another look on the way into work tomorrow.

it could just be winter propagation
In south France (Carcassonne) you hear UK stations much better in winter ,sometimes day time...the colder the stronger signals get.
Conversely in N-France very near UK spanish stations come loud & clear when it freezes

Ah it is transmitter work - DS members are saying there have been on air announcements. More power may be applied today as well

Good signals on the way into work from 0800-0830. By now they would normally have faded out.

On the way home 1330 - 1400, well there was something there but only just.

Nice and clear near Leatherhead in the car, fading slightly as I made my way north but still perfectly acceptable.

Maybe thay have switched back to the main mast? I havent seen any reports the power has been turned up again. They were licensed for 4kW erp at the last power increase.

I wasn't listenling too closely yesterday but I thought I heard the change was in preparation for the TT in a months time.

Caroline have put a request in to run the tx at 6dB increase in power with long term aim to run it at 27kW

I clearly heard a signal on 648kHz during the day when I managed to hit the radio button on the Fiesta radio instead of the Aux button a few days ago So their signal is still getting out well

Once the boat is in dry dock they can stick on a decent ground plane and play around with the mast.

One car radio (Old Toyota whip antenna) is substantially better at AM reception than the window glass filaments of the younger Honda.

How is the Manx frequency where you are ?
