But my dear Captain Jack - you are so spot on!I know certain script and ad blockers can cause all sorts of weird issues. Do you have any installed there?
Well well,, same problem here st1.Tried Firefox 58.0.2 64-bit (same version) on iMac w. macOS Sierra, and eveything works here.
Must be something on Mint with an update?? Will explore further...
Did a complete clean install of mint, and full package update, and tried again.Strange that the identical problems posted here have occured at much the same time, with the latest Firefox version.
Completely new and blank (virtual) machine.Ah. That explains why I didn't have the same issue with the same Firefox/Mint64 config .... Tracking Protection has always been set to Never.
So was whatever Setting you had really Default, or was it inherited from earlier Firefox versions but somehow had a different effect with the latest update? (Firefox tends to retain old settings even if you do an apparently clean reinstall)
OK, changed mine from Default to Never. Haven't noticed that option, thanks.Did a complete clean install of mint, and full package update, and tried again.
Same behaviour - even out of the box with no ad-blocking.
It turns out the default setting for Tracking protection triggers the behaviour. Changing the setting to "never" removes the problem.

Not sure if this is a good thing, but at least I now understand whence it came...
