My great Aunt is interested in all things Greek, and as she's not too well and won't be able to go over there this year I'm thinking of installing a simple system for her to watch the Digea and ERT channels on 3.1°E.

I'm just thinking a zone 2 minidish for minimal impact on the front of the house. It should be plently big enough for a decent amount of rain fade wiggle room on the three transponders with their QPSK and 3/5 FEC, especially a bit further to the East of here in Nottinghamshire (the same size works fine over here). Might even whack an LNB on the side for a couple of the FTA channels from Cosmote on 9°E.

The only thing I'm no sure of is what would be a decent receiver to get. I'm after something for a decent price that's nice and simple to use and will cope with BISS (including "forcing" BISS on the ERT channels with their lack of CAID). A straightforward EPG would be nice, but I've no need of recording facility.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas? :D

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

What receiver are you currently using at home to get the important channels ?
How good is your mother at operating remote controls ?

Why not bring her over for a play to see how she gets on ?

A technomate f3/5 or 5402 would be a great solution.

Thanks! I'll take a look at those.

Well I'm using a PC set-up with a Wetek Play as a client box to watch channels on for myself. The Wetek Play is a contender as well (with its built-in tuner and Kodi) but it's just the default remote control that lets it down.

Not just the remote, the ability to drop a vast menu depth away from the channel list of a simple satellite receiver by accident, even I've had trouble finding my way back.
