Can you remember what the bud was doing? Were you using the older firmware from around May?
The only thing I spotted is the favorite labels are stored with the firmware and the channel lists. Which seems to be normal with Skyboxes & Openboxes.

Thinking about getting another and rigging it up with a ku band linear lnb (if I can get one at a reasonable price).

The bug was trivial - in upgrading from the May Firmware to the September version, all the Favourites list Labels reverted to Favourite 1, 2, 3 etc and needed to be manually edited (All the contents of each list were fine). No more than two minutes work.

Strangely, my own F3 is fine in that respect, but my Foxsat HDR has developed finickiness vis-a-vis the Telecommander of late.

Ruled out Batteries, CFLs etc. Workable, but not brilliant.

Just wondering, does this box have a card slot?

My HDR has always been awful in this respect so perhaps yours has reverted to type. So bad that when I'm in the UK I preferentially use the terrestrial Philips box.

Should just be cccam.cfg

Errm, did you by any chance open a blank .cfg file to enter or paste data into?

If so, you'll need to remove any File Type Association (eg to Notepad) or the box will not recognise it.

To prevent this happening in the first place, just make sure to uncheck the Always Use The Selected Programme To Open Files Of This Type box when opening.

Disassociation is not straightforward in Win 7, unless you find an Unassociate Utility off th'interweb and use that.

PS: If you get really stuck, you can actually enter directly using the Remote: Once you've got access to the Softcam Menus by entering 6666 at the Root of the Network Local Setting Menu, select CCCAM then Manage; scroll down to .cfg and it provides you with all the necessary fields.

Got a couple of questions before I go ahead and buy one of these;

Has anyone tried out MGCamd functionality?

Also, will the CCCam (or MGCamd) in the F3 box read Softcam.key and constant.cw key files? Just thinking for ORF and RAI as it'll be used on 19.2/13°E. Can you load these in the same way as cccam.cfg via USB?

CCCam does indeed handle constant.cw files - either Upload from USB or you can enter via the Remote Telecommander.

First option is easiest if you have a comprehensive file from somewhere or another.

Can't help you with the other stuff.

OK, cheers for that!

I've decided to go for the M3 in the end what with it running exactly the same firmware and being a bit smaller and nicer to look at with the USB slot on the back.

Without saying too much it'll be interesting to try it out running MGCamd. I have a TNTSat card in my Dreambox running OSCam.

If your talking about MGcamd from an Oscam point of view then yes it runs fine Zero problems, Just wondering with you purchasing the M3 you do realise it is exceptionally small with no display and wired IR magic eye type for the remote control as the idea of the M3 is to be hidden away presumably at the back of the TV out of sight

Well I've watched some demo videos of people playing around with them and from those it shows it does have an LED display and that the remote works (the IR socket just being for an extender if you want to place the box out of sight). Unless you know differently? (Got me a bit worried now. :D)

Apologies its my fault all the screenshots i have seen have shown no display as i thought the idea was to tuck it out of the way somewhere but lo and behold it does after all

Another minor problem - when I carefully edit the channel names on 36E to be something more useful than Ch-1, IMN, & Program-A, I do not expect the next channel scan to reset them back to their original names!

What the bloody hell is the point of having an channel edit tool if the next scan overwrites your changes??

As a bit of a newbie I wonder if the box (with the latest official software) will read an official sly card and keep it alive.

Lots of sites offer ways round but I feel it is safer to get a proper card. Works great for freesat so dont want to screw it up.

No, sadly it won't.

Or, if it does, there have been absolutely no reports confirming it.

ETA: I have actually found one oblique reference to this claiming it is possible by some jiggery pokery to convert the Card Serial no. to Hex format and then entering it via the Remote Telecommander. But no further corroboration.
