Hvae you put it on yours then tjl?
No as I have latest software for my f3 and as his post said this is the same for the f3s so It's pointless but maybe tempted if they know longer support the f3 in future

All downloads are here

The only "S" specific is the Firmware dated 4 July 2013 and I guess that's what you've got pre-loaded anyway?

PS: The Remote Telecommander is different from the earlier F3.

Yep.

Simply copy the newer Firmware to USB, plug into Box.

After a few seconds, the USB options will all be enabled.

Go to Upload, then you'll find it defaults to the Image File anyway, so simply press the go button.

Takes mere seconds.

Then exit to the USB Menu and select the correct option for disconnecting the Stick: Don't just unplug it!

As for Channel Lists, that depends upon your needs: A lot of these Boxes are supplied for ahem full UK use and you can easily get an up to date BSkyB (for example) from the Interweb. Someone posted a relevant URL somewhere hereabouts only a couple of weeks ago.

Or, you can just scan and edit for multi-Satellite use as you would with any other box.

I've sent my multi-Sat list to a fair few folk, but of course everyone has different interests, and also different DiSEqC configurations.

Oh, and unless you wish to gain first hand experience of the unbricking procedure, steer well clear of the Channel Editor Tool from the earlier link.

Any FAT option should do.

Don't forget some kit/drive combos obstinately refuse to work come what may.

Just checked and the stick I use is an 8GB Sandisk in FAT32: IIRC small capacity drives may not work, even though the Image File is only a few MB.

You can use FTP if the USB option declines (but I'm sure you'll get there).

In which case, perhaps the File is corrupt or the syntax is wrong: Please Post the exact and full Filename as stored on the USB stick.

BTW, I strongly suggest you Dump the installed File to USB then the PC Hard Drive so you've got a working fallback if it goes t*ts up. The File you've got Installed is not listed on the Download Site ..............

In any event, I'm surprised you want to "Upgrade" before you've had a play with it as it is >> There is nothing to be lost here, as if you later "Upgrade", all your Settings, Channels etc. are retained.

Bongo Bingo: The Box only looks at the first level and cannot extract the .abs file from the Folder shown!

So Drag the F3 Folder on the USB stick back to the PC, click on the innards (It's a .rar so is zipped/compressed) to extract everything, then copy only the resulting .abs file to the Stick.

The box needs to see summat.abs

QED.

Martin, I've been editing whilst you were reading - have another look just to make sure it's clear.

This will work - no need for FTP.

To be absolutely clear, the file you want is:

SKYBOX_F3S_3601_HD_CMT_1307040584.abs
